Wow, this is good. I raised kids in the 80’s and it was hell. Suddenly entertainment was everywhere. That’s when my despondency started I think; that we lost being serious; except for the people who could afford SAT coaches. Something huge did happen then. So glad to see this piece;;;it’s the first that makes me feel sane that I wasn[t alone actually in feeling swept away yet desperate. There was this rush to get rich. Very very rich. I remember a feeling around…hurry and be famous. For a parent it was terrifying. Madonna pointing those big pointy breasts at your kids. Then one day suddenly Mercedes were for sale in tulsa on street corners. Maybe I’m getting the times mixed up? For a parent the 80’s where scary has hell.

Greg, I read lots of smarter and wiser people than I am to try to keep some semblance of sanity and normalcy and decency in these unreal, bizarre and terrifying times. By “Times” I mean the almost exactly ten years now since Trump hijacked the country I thought I knew, since tens of millions(77 million I guess) joined a cult, got brainworms, or just lost all common sense and civility and kindness and decency, and since we were plunged into a literal 13 year old boy’s world.

As always, you write cogently, wisely, powerfully and so, so well about the fundamental insanity and immaturity and embarrassingly pitiful world of Trump and now by extension the rest of us.

One of the others I have read a lot to help me survive these wilderness years is Jonathan V. Last of the Bulwark. He has written EXTENSIVELY and quite well about Trump and wrestling. You write even more beautifully than him, but he goes into great detail about “heat” and a lot of other wrestling stuff that was actually quite insightful about wrestling, Trump and the world of 13 year old boys we are forced to live in because of the utter vacuousness, ignorance, stupidity and really moral bankruptcy of the American voters.

Keep up the good work. You are the best.
