Rumsfeld, McConnell, Cheney, Trump, the 4th of July deserters to Russia (Congressmen) and others will go down in my lifetime as the most evil, self-serving traitors. McConnell stole his seat time and again.
Here's my idea: I follow you, Malcolm Nance, Allison Gill, Sisters-in-Law, Zev, Michael Harriot, LB, Dr. Bandy Lee, Eric Boehlert, Ruth Ben Ghiat, LP, Lakota Man and others. Unlike Republicans who consolidate their interests, our pro-Democracy folks are doing completely separate things with the same objective in mind. It's hard following all of the above! Of course, there are more people I could name. But, maybe a ZOOM forum or collaboration with such great thinkers is in order. He had the motivation, the means, and certainly the mindset for such a thing. The only problem with it was that they just didn't rig enough. The 81 million for Biden must have shocked them as much, if not more, than TFG's 74 million did us. They underestimated Biden and after four years of dystopian hell, NOBODY underestimated T****, and all that he could have done behind the scenes. T**** himself was way too stupid and self-involved to do these things on his own, which is why he filled his administration with ratfuckers from top to bottom.
He may or may not run in 2024, provided he's still a free man, but it would do all of us well to never underestimate anyone named T**** for the rest of time. Cocaine Junior may come up in the future as might Ivanka. They learned everything they know from daddy. They were the very first cult members.
Recently, to my absolute horror, I saw a clip from one of T****'s recent Nuremburg rallies that was on C-SPAN. In the lower right corner, C-SPAN had placed their "2024" logo. Whatever the clip was being used for (it might have been Stephen Colbert), nobody mentioned that logo. I thought, am I nuts? Did I just see that? Yes, I did. So, what MAGA at C-SPAN decided that mid-2021 was a time to start trotting out the "2024" for THIS guy? Talk about needing a trigger-warning!

Does anyone know the number of viewers of Fox, OANN, Newsmax and WWE? What about followers of Brietbart and the Wallstreet Journal? I wonder if by cobbling together some of those numbers, a predictable "base" number can be determined? Membership in NRA, various "bike" clubs and other entities might round out those numbers even more. Add in congregations that consider themselves "evangelical." Add in the number of citizens in the solid soiled South who voted for him.

I am with Louise, before I even learned of her existence. Voter turnout was huge, massive, breaking records. That’s what accounted for Biden and Trump both getting more votes than anyone else in American history.
The reason for the massive turnout: this vote was a referendum. Of the historical examples you noted, only Herbert Hoover, the Black Thursday and Great Depression instance, are comparable to the 2020 election.
Keep in mind: we have a very small sample size here. Only one election every four years, a total of only 30 elections since 1900, and precious few True One Term instances. That means the historical record is not much to go on when looking for information. Instead of examining the social and historical precedents, we have to look into society.
The 2020 election was not business as usual, as presidential elections go, hence the difficulty in assessing and evaluating that event.

It's been obvious to me from day one that something is definitely not right in ES&Sland (their machines were used in ALL the sketchy, supposedly poll-busting 2020 races: McConnell, Collins, DeSantis, half of Texas counties, etc etc)—and that every single word of the Dominion bullshit has been BOTH projection AND distraction, right from the get go.
One particularly worrying development is trumpers actually succeeding in getting jurisdictions to cancel Dominion contracts just by pitching a big enough bitch about the usual lies. One Ohio county's Republican administrators ditched Dominion for just this reason—and of course switched to ES&S.
