It’s TUESDAY🎉 You are the “Encyclopedia Britannica” of this hideous era. Well done!👏🏻👏🏻😉

Thanks, Lisbeth. One day closer...

Greg an amazing dossier. I am glad that per the groundhogs in 6 weeks we'll be out of this arctic blast But judging from the revelations coming out of the newly released 'set' of files I don't know if Epstein is going to release you from adding another at minimum 4 MORE parts to this putrid story. Was glad to read that the Clinton's agreed to come forward yesterday. Well done Greg!

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Sara. It feels like Groundhog Day for me...media, including newer indie Substack writers, covering a lot of this like it's brand-new. There were news articles this week talking about Jes Staley as if that had just come out.

Six more weeks of winter...but also, six weeks until spring. : )

Thanks. I could no more do this kind of forensic archiving of this very personally experienced global crime network then cut my own fingers off with a sharpened knife. Both are equally life changing.

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Monnina. I am able, most of the time, to shift into a different brain mode to do this. Dispassionate. But there are times when the pure, molten evil does begin to eat away at the walls I've built up. I realized about four years ago that I would probably spend the rest of my life writing about these horrible people. Such is my fate...

Welcome to the layer cake.

The only advice I can offer is to ride with the rage when it rises. Don’t beat up on yourself when it subsides. It will always leave behind some deep emotional epiphany.

Greg a great perspective, thanks. One bit of commentary on the Chase and Dimon thing. If you can find it try to watch BBC NewsNight from last night, 2nd February. Coverage was about Peter Mandelson. He was a big shot in Tony Blair's government and Business Minister and Deputy Prime Minister under Gordon Brown. The big story here was that he leaked highly sensitive and confidential documents to Epstein. There is a call for a criminal investigation into what has been described as him breaching the Official Secrets Act, a crime tantamount to treason. Rightfully Scotland Yard/Metropolitan Police have opened such an investigation.

More to the point of a topic you focus on, Chase and Dimon. A NewsNight analyst located in the recent file release a few email exchanges between Mandelson and Epstein concerning propsed changes to US banking regulations, specifically capital adequacy rules which the banks were most against. Epstein asked if Dimon should call Darling (Alastair Darling the Chancellor of the Exchequer or Treasury Secretary to us) about an upcoming meeting between US officials and Darling, topic the new rules. Mandelson replied yes and suggested Dimon "beat him up a little bit". Mandelson received soon after the meeting ended Darling's Private Secretary minutes and immediately forwarded them to Epstein. In his after leaving office biography Darling addresses this call, saying Dimon beat him up or words to that effect.

Questions. Is Dimon being truthful about his relationship with Epstein? Perhaps Staley who was at Chase during this time relayed the message but I cannot imagine Dimon accepting such advice without digging into the origin story, the micromanager he is reputed to be.

As you rightfully say while Epstein is about sex trafficking, an extremely odious matter, the dangerous story to those involved concerns the ultimate underlying evils, money and lust for power. Robert Maxwell stole GBP400 million from his employees pension fund at the Mirror Group Newspapers, this I believe one of his lesser crimes. Epstine via Ghislaine may have been his protege and successor to a vast, global crime empire, funded by trafficking and using videos and other evidence of serial depravity to get the powerful to aid and abet in very serious crimes. This is what is so dangerous, the far reaching implications that will turn governments and today's rich and powerful to rubble. Unless, We the People never find out or if we do are helpless as the guilty have reached their ultimate objective, invincibility.

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Old Man. For kicks, I searched through the files for any mention of "Dimon." Lots of mentions, some that suggest they know each other...but others indicating they do not. There are emails where JEE is trying to get JD's contact information, for example...which suggests JD is being truthful. There IS an email about the dinner with your boy Mandelson, and JD addressed that in his deposition whenever that was.

But yeah, it seems insane that they didn't know each other.

PM's partner was apparently paid off by JEE. Looks like the dude was flat-out on the payroll. I hope UK government eviscerates him.

PM yesterday resigned from the House of Lords and Starmer is introducing legislation that will strip him of his Lord title. Under current rules once bestowed the title stays even if he resigns from the Lords. Met police have opened a formal investigation, if charged and convicted of the most serious crime, breaching the Official Secrets Act, a life sentence. I suspect he will be charged on less serious crimes. Interesting, the law was written in the 1800s to address a specific matter, it is very broad, frankly more mumbo jumbo than precise legal language. Plays both for and against Mandelson. I can say that on this side of the pond the the outrage over Epstein is huge, seems in Europe accountability matter, Norway has acted and several others in other countries are on the ropes. If the orange orangutan were here he would be gone already.

Huge push here to get both Peter and the former Prince Andrew plus his ex, Fergie to voluntarily cooperate with US investigations. Keir Starmer has stated in Parliament they should, so far Buckingham Palace has been quiet. Time will tell, I am hopeful one or all will cooperate. If they do I suspect Republicans will find a way to ensure they talk about everyone but trump, assuming they actually know something about him.

Thanks for your reply, liked it very much.

Apologies, a second thought. Here journalist are digging into JD Vance's pal and leader of the UK's version of maga, Reform Party leader Nigel Farage. In addition the Guardian is doing work on Farage's relationship with Bannon, another epstein featured character.

I feel like a UK and EU correspondent. Hopefully not burdening all with my meanderings.

Greg Olear's avatar

Not at all! Very useful and welcome info.

Farage has long been a key player in this. That was obvious even in 2016.

Here, re Dimon...

Greg: You're right in that there is so much info to track, and it's hard to make sense of it. I use relationship maps that I update as new details emerge.

Beyond Honeytraps: Mapping Trump, Epstein, and Russian connections (Updated: Feb 2, 2026)

https://thedemlabs.org/2026/02/02/trump-epstein-relationship-map-russian-connections/

This map has several revisions already. I use the free kumu.io app to create such maps. I find it easier to visualize the connections that way. And it's possible to get a high level view and then dig in for details. Here's a 1 minute video on YouTube on how to use the map.

And when billionaire owned platforms start censoring Epstein related info, we used to AI to collect updates and send it off to subscribers confidentially. No app. No phone number. No texting. The solution protects the identity of subscribers (like an underground radio).

Larry Ellison blocks “Epstein” on TikTok: Bypass billionaires censorship and directly reach followers with FastAlert.

Marc Andreesen is an investor in Substack and censorship or algorithm manipulation could be coming. Some writers are creating their own FastAlert channels (for free) to directly broadcast to their subscribers.

On an earlier AI discussion here, I commented about having done PhD work in clinical psych, focusing on philosophy of science/early AI and white-collar crime. I mentioned a book by a man I found to be one of the great minds of the time, Nobel physicist/writer Murray Gell-Mann at the Santa Fe Institute. Reading some of the new Epstein files, I was "just a bit" stunned (altho shouldn't be, by anything) to see that JE built his NM ranch largely to be near his new friend GM and SFI, to which he contributed $250k and tried, just before the end, to donate $2 mil (apparently rejected by a higher up who saw it as conflict-of-intetest). The trail I followed suggested early $ came from a certain world power to fund getting close to major scientists. Sounds like JE not only wanted to cultivate high-brow/legit cover/ego-trip/reputation among scientists but also to gather and transmit info and ideas from U.S. cutting-edge science. Seems finance, girls, blackmail, etc. might've been "field $upport" for agent 00E, for "Blofeld's" goal of ruling the world's nuclear, space, AI, medical, cryogenics, crypto, etc.

I am convinced that Blofeld, whose face we don't see in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, is also played by Sean Connery...the voice.

SPECTRE strikes again...

I see that MGM died two months before JEE did. He was old, so a coincidence, but interesting.

JEE was absolutely and intentionally cultivating all of these brilliant scientific minds. Check out John Brockman, the Edge Foundation, and the Biollionaire Dinners. JEE + Brockman, one of his closest pals apparently, brought together the big brains and the big wallets...and in the case of tech brains, determined which start-ups succeeded and which failed. It was a way of directing funding.

I maintain JEE was amoral and mercenary, and gathered the info b/c some nation tasked him to or b/c he knew he could monetize it with foreign intelligence services. In any case, good information, Maureen. Thank you.

Through your meticulous research and writing, Greg, you've contextualized the attributes that our system of unfettered capitalism dangles before us as representations of ultimate success: the attainment of wealth without concern for the social costs; of sex on demand without any sense of responsibility; of depravity without conscience.

Epstein represents, if I may coin a word, the “assoul” of America. He holds up a mirror to us. De we like what we see?

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Homi. Yes, I like the new word! ASSOUL. A black hole of soul. And I love how you phrase the success metrics.

I keep thinking about what Brooke said about the competitive depravity Olympics...depravity as a flexing of power.

Heaven help us all.

One day I’m going to know everything. And find my revulsion has remained unchanged. And then thinking some more about it all, understood there had been so much that needed to be done back then that would, have changed, all of today’s facts I so desperately needed to know.

Greg Olear's avatar

I hope we get to know everything.

Last night I re-read DIRTY RUBLES, just to see if it holds up. I got a few things wrong, mostly in predictions, and I would have written it a lot better now. But we all knew what we know now back then. The picture was there, we are only now painting in the numbered areas and sharpening the focus...

What is there to be done with this?

I am repeatedly calling this to mind:

"Upon this gifted age, in its dark hour,

Rains from the sky a meteoric shower

Of facts...they lie unquestioned, uncombined.

Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill

Is daily spun, but there exists no loom

To weave it into fabric..."

Oh, wow. I didn't know that one, Sue. Gave me chills.

I love Vincent. I loved listening to her speak, on the recordings, against fascism and how we should help Europe fight Hitler.

I haven't yet had a chance to read all your Massive Compendium on Epstein--monster though he is, he pales before ICE and the other attacks on the rule of law (habeas? What's that, says the govt). But I wonder if you had encountered this question, which occurred to me as I read all the people who said they partied with Epstein but didn't sleep with minors.

I got the info, not the wording, from CoPilot, which is generally reliable if you ask the right questions, but I haven't had much time to follow up on. I HAVE read the statute it mentions and sex with minors always does seem to be in a list of bad things and prefaced by an "OR' so that what preceded did NOT involve minors.

Here's what I gleaned

----For all those in the files who say "Oh, i just slept with adults" contemplate this: It is a crime under 18 USC 1591 to have sex with a woman of whatever age one knows has been human trafficked by "force or coercion"--this refers to force in the trafficking, not force in the sex. 18 U.S.C. § 1591. Also to be "patronizing" her, (without paying) though that went into effect in 2015. These people thought all those late teens and "adults" who couldn't speak English were here on worker visa??

---The burden of proof is just greater for adults than for those under 18.

Sounds like "oh, they were all adults" isn't necessarily much of a defense, and there is no statute of limitations on the crime, though the removal was in 2022, so ex post facto issues undoubtedly arise. But from the point of view of the Court of Public Opinion, there isn't a lot of difference between someone who committed a crime still prosecutable and someone who committed a crime and no one noticed or prosecuted at the time. (The burden of proof for non-minors is really heavy, so remember innocent until proven guilty--under law. Under morality? )

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks for bringing that up, Susan. I'm not a lawyer...which is useful, because there are apparently no laws anymore...but yes, that is not an excuse. Not at all.

Epstein benefitted from his relationships with people like Bill Clinton and Bill Gates in that other people figured, "If Clinton is okay with him, why should I worry?" I think that was part of it to, for the people on the edges. It's also telling that Dersh and others in that orbit publicly lobby for "age of consent" to be lowered. They knew. They all knew, to some degree. And they should all take the fall.
