Thank you Greg. Fascinating history of the AG's well appreciated.

Thanks, Sara. I began by trying to think of the good ones, and realized I couldn't name any of them before Reagan, other than RFK.

The rot in our system is everywhere. I have a crazy plant. The first two or three years it didn’t grow, but recently it has taken off spreading its root underground and turning up everywhere, Almost unstoppable. That feels like where we are now. I am hanging on to Almost Unstoppable, as extreme measures in addition to extraction and mowing it down contain it. Can Maga be mowed?

If the New York bar believes what it wrote, why isn't it moving to disbar Blanche at the same time as objecting to his confirmation?

Fox.or.Ox's avatar

I thought the particular Bar objecting to Blanche was the D.C.City Bar, not the New York Bar?

Greg Olear's avatar

I copy pasted directly. The DC Bar may also have spoken out.

Greg Olear's avatar

I expect that's coming.

Without a doubt, he is completely unfit to be AG. Thank you for the perspective. I have written to my Senators, sadly I believe my urging a no vote will fall on deaf ears. One, Thom Tillis should know better but after Blanche's sham meeting with trump epstein victims I fear he is a yes vote.

I fail to understand how trump can shit on folks like Tillis, Cronyn and Cassidy, no less treat the likes of Collins and Murkowsky as dirt and they gladly eat shit and dirt, doing his bidding. Pathetic!

It is, to be sure, a mystery for the ages. Kompromat? Money in politics? Fear of life after? I don't know, but none of them are fit to lead a Little League team, let alone a state.

It’s “interesting” how tom “zelig” barrack continues to appear throughout repugnant political history.

"he’s an asshole of galactic proportions"

I always come back for the cussing.

OMG! Snort, cackle, laugh, titter, tee-hee, squeal, gasp, gag, choke, wheeze, hoot, hee-hee, ho-ho, ha-ha, guffaw, holler, howl, spit, lol, giggle, chortle, cough, lol, lulz, roflmao

It's true! : )

"Given how many shit AGs we’ve had—since 2001 alone: Gonzales, Sessions, Barr, Bondi, and, albeit for different reasons, Merrick Garland—that’s no small feat."

Very smooth, Maestro, how you fit Merrick in there with such truth and economy. Yes.

Greg Olear's avatar

MG isn't escaping a piece about shitty AGs, ha ha ha.

Dude, you're a veritable black hole when it comes to sucking up every nano-particle of historical fact. I wish I had that kinda brain. I have an encyclopedic memory for past events in my long life but not for raw facts. How the F do you do it?

Greg Olear's avatar

I look up what I don't know, is all. I didn't know much about the history of the DOJ etc. It's illuminating.

Sharon Dymond's avatar

I've been watching you extemporize now for years. I'm in awe.

Craig Rhodes's avatar

Given recent history, it's not far fetched to suspect that in the end even his gop detractors will confirm him. The gop cult marches on.

Greg Olear's avatar

Mortal lock to confirm him. I'd be shocked otherwise.

Blanche is a psychopath. Like a bad virus, we have to hope this historic enterprise runs its course and we will somehow come out okay.

Thanks for the history, Greg. We’ve had some real scoundrels who have served as AG and somehow, we were able to self-correct. I’m hoping that’ll be the case during this era. I’m not holding my breath, but I also refuse to give up hope.

Thanks. I mean, his father was literally a cult leader, so...acorn, tree.

Fox.or.Ox's avatar

Thank you for the review of Historical opinions and claims of various past leaders or influencers. Sad though how cruel leaders can be to the detriment of the people they should be informing.

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Fox/Ox. It's all so sad.

Everything is just so “out there”, blatant, normalized-“everybody does it”, “both sides do it”, blah blah blah. Totally Alice in Wonderland. And the voting masses get steamrollered ever so softly…

Greg Olear's avatar

Everyone covers up child rape! We have to just overlook that now that he stepped into a room with a bunch of women and ignored them!

What a terrible indictment of us - as in, both, "all of us" and "the US" - that an evil lickspittle with no morality is even under consideration to be our AG. That indictment is underlined and set in bold by the fact that there are Republican senators who would vote to confirm this guy.

They may dress in suits and comb their hair, but they are no different than the barbaric ayatollahs who dress in robes and trim their beards.

Greg Olear's avatar

Well put, Homi, and, sadly, very true.

Here is John Cornyn's phone number in Washington. 202-224-2934 Everyone who cares about saving our Democracy should call and leave a message today. Be sure to hit the # at the end of your message so the message goes through. We cannot count on Tom Tillis to say no to confirming Todd Blanche. Cornyn is our last hope. He has served in the Senate for many years and is an attorney. He knows what the right thing to do is. But we need to encourage him to be on the right side of HIstory. He can go out as a hero. Of course call you own Republican Senators as well but most likely they will not stray.

Greg Olear's avatar

A worthy effort, but I have little faith that THIS guy will do the right thing...

As usual, I appreciate the historical perspective you provide and your expounding on what the DOJ can and should be. I already knew from social and independent media how awful Mr Blanche is. I blanch [intransitive verb: to become white or pale (as from shock or fear)] at the thought of his confirmation.

Greg Olear's avatar

Thanks, Earl. His is a fun name to pun on. He himself is no fun at all.

Blanche is Trump's pièce de resistance.
