‘…her Murine eyes’ slayed me! Outstanding work. I am SO fed up with waiting…

We could use a John Wilkes Booth or two. They are waiting us out, both GOP and Dem leadership until, as usual, we move on to something else, like Christmas or News Years or until the next piece of murderous cannon fodder, like a Rittenhouse, becomes the new GOP, Qanon, Trump hero. When things are so blatantly obvious but rich white men politicians will not prosecute other rich white politicians because...ah, I can't for the love of Mike figure out why.

Yah, nice, but…

What the former guy knows is you whip up your base and then you can do anything. No one person influences government. Senators don’t listen to one constituent. The only way to get back to what America should be trying to be is to convince Americans—lots and lots of Americans— to speak out.

I’m sorry this also works in the justice system, but it does. Frequently in the Supreme Court’s past the justices have debated how a decision would be accepted by the people. It’s no use issuing a decision nobody wants or will obey. The autobiography of William O Douglas is concise on this point.

To be the country we want to be is a group effort. A significant group effort. At the moment that means convincing about 100 million people to agree with you, about ten million of them in Kentucky. Otherwise: death of democracy.

You are holding the banner, Mon Gonfalonier. We hear you.

I wish I knew a way to send this entire piece to the DOJ and to every person in Congress.

Damn it, I keep getting interrupted as I’m trying to read this piece…. What I’ve read is, I don’t know, very touching…. On some level …maybe I’m projecting….?…..it’s exactly where I’m at. I’ll post again because it’s Olear’s writing. TY.

This is important, and not something we can stand to sweep under the rug. It's interesting, and infuriating, that Dr. Oz running for something in PA is getting more press than what the January 6th Commission is doing. It's also infuriating that what the J6 Commission is doing is not enough. They're still tiptoeing around people being hesitant or outright ignoring subpoenas -- "well, ok, if he doesn't respond, we are going to start to think about considering some legal action, up to and even including CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS!" Oooooo, OK. Meanwhile there is a countdown to the midterms, after which there is the increasing possibility that the J6 Commission will be jettisoned to the four winds if The Traitors take over the House.

There is also the other rumor taking shape that if THEY take the House, and the Speaker does not have to be a sitting Member, that Trump will be installed as Speaker -- third in line to the presidency, with only Biden and Harris in the way. Let's have more impeachment! If we learned nothing from Trump's time in office, it's that it doesn't even matter what the charges are, a president can be found guilty or not based on the number of people willing to throw their vote. The 67 votes in the Senate may be an uphill battle, but the damage and the delay for more impeachments will be enough to stall everything until the end of Biden's term.

Greg is, as always, correct. We are STILL in the midst of the insurrection. It is ongoing and live. There are no people climbing the steps of the Capitol so far today, but like a school shooting, an insurrection can happen at any time in almost any place. I am also losing faith in the DOJ. If they're actually DOING anything to bring some justice (it's right in their name!) I don't see it, not even a hint of it. The only reason DOJ got any attention this year due to the insurrection was Bannon being charged with contempt, and even THAT took too long, and didn't even originate in the DOJ. Not only is it almost a year since the insurrection, it's also almost a year into the Biden administration, and the installation of the Biden Justice Department. Everything is moving WAY too slowly for an administration I can't, at this point, believe will last more than four years, if that. Impeachment enthusiasts are ready!

My mom, born during the Hoover administration, has repeatedly said, "I don't ever remember seeing...." and then whatever the news of the day revealed. Ignoring the fact that at 89 she repeats A LOT of things, all I can say in response is, "No, mom, you haven't, because it's never happened before." Unfortunately, THIS bullshit with Trump and his minions appearing to skate free HAS happened before, and it seems all we can do is HOPE that history isn't going to repeat again. My hope is dwindling.
