As a Catholic, the Opus-Dei affiliations are the most disturbing and maleficent. It's nothing more than authoritarianism wrapped in a prayer blanket and I can't wait for someone (hopefully the next female Democratic AG) to wipe that Cheshire Cat grin off his face as she smugly leads him to prison. Me too ~ my upbringing was northern Jersey in the 60's/70's and there were freaky elements in the pre-Vatican II days (was traumatized for life having to try & whisper low enough to share my first Holy Confession surrounded by other kids at a bar on the altar) and then I raised my boys, who were both long-time altar servers, in Texas in the 90's so two totally different flavors of Catholicism. Don't believe OD fetishistic cult is the theology of Pope Francis and that's how I soothe my cafeteria Catholic soul.

As a kid, I could never figure out why so many of my community's heartless bastards were showing up in my parish church. I see your established links to others in power and want you to work them even deeper. I find it interesting how accidentally transparent are dishonest and deceiving people. Trump, as an example, as do the Barrs of this life, reveals himself in almost every statement. You're writing is making it clear that Trump and Barr are colluding to hide the real conspiracy of their making, to steal America from it's people's vote. Notice how they are constantly concocting conspiracies for their shrinking voter base? They're feeding the Cult members what they nourish.. conspiracies! It's driven by the "We know better" attitude of so many over-advantaged who have helped seize government. As a retired Journalist, I feel there is a Pulitzer for you for delivering on this modern "Revelations;" And the salvation of our republic, thank you. Respect, Congrats, and please sick 'em!

I'm going to keep digging and keep sharing what I find, until Trump is out of office, but also until the dark forces that installed and enable him are brought to justice. Can you believe it? We are deep in the doo doo now. Trump's control of "the loyal opposition" has turned the GOP into an armed force of insurrection! I wish someone would strap a set of balls on Merrick Garland!
It all fits....pederasty? Check,...Treason? Check....Misogyny and homophobia? Check and check. This guy and the crew around him want to install a rigid, patriarchal regime that lets them get a way with literal murder and the destruction of our country. It's no accident that they're willing to collude with the mafiya and our greatest geopolitical challenger to impose their holy roman-like empire.
I've discounted the religious aspects of the story, mostly because it's hard for me to imagine someone intelligent believing something so ridiculous. But plenty of smart people join cults, and this is no different.
Even though you avoided highlighting the hypocritical religiosity of this whole cabal, their rank self-righteousness always leads to the destruction of democracy along with the abuse and domination of others. This entire crew would have easily fit in with the Spanish Inquisition to impose their twisted view of "justice" on innocent people.
Barr is flat out trashing the rule of law and the Constitution while lying about the supposed takeover of the country by all them evil secularists. He, his father, and the others you mentioned would gladly kill lots of people, especially LGBTQ individuals, all in the name of serving the Lord. It's a cult alright, not only of their religion per se but also of their patriarchal and hierarchical worldview.
You structured this beautifully! I lived a block away from the first (immense) Opus Dei building in NY. The constructions workers who saw me passing to get the subway each day told me: « Some really weird stuff goes on in there. »
