Greg. HappyBirthday to your son. And, Merry Christmas to all. And, thanks for the history on how Madison Avenue redefined Xmas. I received an early present last Sunday as we watched our grandchildren open their gifts, in the garage, and we sat in the driveway, distancing ourselves, wearing masks. I guess I have been so vocal for so long , my gift this year was a Donald Trump toilet brush. Yes, the bristles are bright orange. Our three toilets are bright white, hopefully, like America’s future. And finally, the shit can be flushed away. Happy New Year! Wait. There will still be 21 days for Trump to kill us.

Merry Christmas to all of you and also Merry Birthday to Dominick.

The current image of Santa Claus was invented by Coca Cola in print ads in the 1930s, and the red color is the same as the Coke logo, which is copyrighted. I think this just emphasizes your point.

Beautiful piece, thank you, Greg. And Happy Birthday, Dominick! 🎂🎉🎄☃️ "...A commercialist saturnalia..." - - perfect description. I imagine waking up on 1/20/21 will be like coming out of a very long nightmare: there'll be plenty of analyzation of the traumatic 5-year set of lurid events, but at least we won't be actively IN IT anymore. Thank you for helping me keep it together, Greg...✌🏻💙✊🏻

Greg, you already endeared yourself to me a long time ago. Now you just keep sealing the deal.

I’m delighted by the knowledge about the origins of the Christmas symbols in the USA. I don’t feel so alone in the world. Being the child of immigrant parents, I feel like I had to learn all these things by myself, in a vacuum. It’s always heartening when I find a kindred spirit so knowledgeable.

Merry Birthday and Happy Christmas to Dominick. Joy and happiness to you and all your family, both your immediate family and your extended family here online (Substack, Medium, et al). Thank you for the sweet and touching article.

At least I know now I will die understanding irony. Deeply. Enjoy the day. Say hi to my birth city for me... damn I miss the smells in the rain. I couldn’t wait to leave. I can’t wait to get back when I do. Stay good.
