Ah, Berlin! Never been, wish I had. The closest I've gotten is a club in Chicago, famous for its bent sort of clientele and aesthetic. I'm not even sure it's still there, but I'd imagine it is.
Another book, Greg? Good gods! I just finished "Cabin at the End of the World," which turned out for me to be a shitty book -- a plodding, purposeless romp that was just MEAN. I don't have high hopes for the movie and will wait for streaming. Somewhere in there I watched "Active Measures," which I thought I'd seen, and hadn't! I'm sure the right sees it (if they watched it at all) as Dinesh D'Souza level conspiracy nonsense, like "2000 Jackasses," but it actually features interviews with REAL people you've heard of. Brilliant film! To keep my sanity, I switch off between fiction (Cabin, ugh!) and non-fiction, so now I'm reading Tim Miller's "Why We Did It," which would seem to be taking the mask off the Republicans (and actually everyone in the world of campaign mechanics) and drilling down into why they have done what they've done. Tim is a very good writer and I find myself going back to read during the day more than I usually do.
And here I am doing a book blog instead of working. WTF? Can't wait for tonight's Five 8! See you then!
I just read the synopsis for "Cabin," and there's just no way I'm reading that. It's been really hard for me, lately, to sink my teeth into anything. But I can't watch or read anything horrific these days. The news is horror enough.
Berlin is not an obvious place to go, as it has none of the must-see tourist attractions. But the vibe of the place is just fantastic. Artsy and cool, all around.
I DID enjoy the show. A few mysteries (to me) that seemed to have played out before my time, but I take people as they present to me. Some things don't need "research" to know that people love to make shit up to smear others and/or lift themselves up to petty heights. Trump taught me that! I'm sorry for whatever happened, but it mostly sounds like a campaign to take down LB because she is who she is, with very little truth involved. Algebraically, I vouch for you, you vouch for her, therefore I vouch for her. Simple.
"Cabin" is horrific, and from what I gather, so is the movie, but in different ways, so steer clear! I'm quite enjoying the massive schadenfreude in Tim Miller's book, "Why We Did It." He takes down people page after page for their hypocrisy in getting on, and staying on, the Trump Train. It's the autopsy we never got from 2012 on. Quite good!
I loved his advice to Dems about messaging. I think he is spot on for why election results don't align with the high percentage of Americans who want the same things for the country. We must fix that!
Thanks, Greg. Have fun in Berlin!
Thank you! I did! : )
As Randy Rainbow described Trump:
A very stable genie-ass
With a very tiny peni-ass.

Viel Spaß in Berlin.
I can't top that!

I remember "Berlin" from the club-going years of my youth!

A fantastic Five/8 with Billy Ray last night.

Isn't he the best? Always an inspiration. Thanks for watching!
