When you find out why the Republicans adore these horrible human beings, please be sure to write about the reason(s). Those admirers are on a par with their dear leader, an example of the dregs of mankind. A lack of education? Of information? Of human caring, kindness, empathy? I have asked myself why since TFG road down the elevator. I’ve read articles proporting the answer, but none truly explain it. 🤔

*rode* down the elevator 😳

It is a mystery. I have ideas, but it's a mystery.

Clearly ALL this is the result of the destruction of education and science by the GOP for 40 years.

Hey Greg enjoyed this narrative of the Republican Party. Remember Gary Hart? Girls on a boat not your wife gone. Or how about Eagleton? Ran with McGovern dropped like a hot potato because he was treated for depression. JFK was catholic the horror! Yes politics has changed much in our lifetime and not for the better.

The double standards are insane. Insane. All of it is insane.

They hate the same people. Adam Best on Twitter explained it like this. “This is the difference between the right and the left. The right votes for politicians because of who they want to hurt, the left votes for politicians based on who they want to help.” Simplistic, but maybe truer than true.

Astute analysis, seems to me.

Well, how fun was this?? I chuckled through quite a few of your descriptions of these absolutely disgustingly insane people. I am crossing my fingers (because prayers ain’t working) that their collective asses will burn when the DOJ and the Select Committee come after them. Thank you, Greg, for making my morning!

Thanks. We have to laugh to keep sane!

Now do Marco Rubio. Someone has to.

Every time I see another Bible-quoting posting or hear his repetition of the same empty platitudes, I wish I’d stuck out my foot as he strutted around the University of Miami law school campus and landed him right on his officious face.

I keep begging the dean to revoke his diploma because it cheapens mine.

The day you sharpen your knife and fork and dig in will be a banner day in my little life.

Yeah, it may be time to focus again on that little tick-turd. His comments when Senate released V5 are shameful.

I'm going out on a limb here and WILL sound like an asshole while I do it, but if I can't do that here, then all is lost.

Republicans admire these politicians not only because they hate the same people their representatives do, but because they're insanely jealous of all the advantages many Democrats have that they don't. (BROAD BRUSH mode) We're better educated. We have better jobs. We have more money in the bank for a rainy day and retirement. We, in general, lead better lives than they could ever hope to. Of course, all of that takes work to accomplish, and many, especially the Trumplicans, loll around, usually starting just after high school, thinking, "oh, I'm never getting out of this burg. I might as well do the least I can to help myself. School's not for me -- I can't be drunk every night AND get good grades, so the diner is looking for a waitress/dishwasher/busboy and I might as well apply until I figure out what to do with my life." Let's call her Janie. The waitress/dishwasher/busboy job works out for a while, at least until Janie gets pregnant at 19. Then since her job is a dime a dozen, she's let go for "reasons," and ends up in a small apartment with the lowlife baby-daddy of her soon-to-be-born kid. A few months after the kid is born, daddy takes off, and Janie is left holding the bag (and the kid). She tries to get a job, but child-care gets in the way, so she goes on welfare.

Meanwhile, Susie, who was the nerd in school, but also Janie's best friend, still tries to keep in touch and tries to do what she can to help her friend, but Janie is too proud to accept. Eventually, Susie gives up because Janie makes it clear that she doesn't NEED any help from some college girl. Susie goes on to graduate with a Masters degree, continues in school to become a dentist, votes for Obama, and eventually marries her high school sweetheart and has three kids. Between their combined incomes, Susie is doing quite well for herself, and Janie is still in the same apartment feeling sorry for herself.

Then Trump comes along.

Susie and Janie have recently started communicating again and Janie has to use all of her willpower to keep calm while Susie regales her with the wonderful life she's leading. And in the back of her mind, Janie is hearing Trump talk about all of the things that are wrong with her own life: some Mexican chick took her job at the diner, she still lives in a shitty apartment, while Susie, JUST BECAUSE she must have slept her way through college has it really good, and Janie has been FORGOTTEN, while Susie is STILL popular and has many friends just because she has money, a handsome husband, and a big house! Trump speaks to her like no one in her life ever has. She attends one of his rallies in a nearby city and is hooked. It's the DEMOCRATS that have ruined her life! They lie, cheat, steal elections, and don't care about anyone except themselves and how much MONEY they can make, just like Susie, that bitch!

The rest, as they say, is history. They're jealous. They're bitter. They're angry. They hate their lives and hate anyone, usually Democrats and liberals, that have better lives. They don't stop to realize that the deplorable people that represent them, like Ted Cruz, Empty G, Boebert, Cawthorne, Biggs, Hawley, and the lot, don't give even one shit about them, except for that vote on Election Day. What did Trump, the Grand High Exalted Mystic Chosen One, do for them? Why, he gave a tax cut to the rich! They only care about what they HEAR, not what is being done, or more accurately, not being done. Now that Biden has some plans for EVERYONE in the BBB Plan, they're against it because Biden is a Democrat. Their representatives told them it was bad and would cost too much money, so it MUST be true.

I paint with a BROAD brush, but this is what I see from my ivory tower through the many years of watching them. I've wanted to understand this too, so this is my theory. /asshole

tl;dr: They're jealous of people who worked to make their lives better. They're angry. They're bitter. And they'll listen to anyone who lashes out at the "Democrat elites" who make them feel bad.

JIM JORDAN

There is something misshapen about the skull, something Cro-Magnon in the jaw, something off in the eyes. Was he repeatedly dropped on his head as a baby? Was he badly injured in his wrestling days? Is he more Neanderthal than most? That might explain his inclination to hurl feces and make loud, incoherent noises. It may also account for his egregious character defect—the inability to discern right from wrong. A massive sexual assault scandal happened under his watch, and Jim Jordan did nothing about it. I wrote about this pre-Insurrection, but it bears repeating: )
