“Whatever Giuliani was thinking, this is what he made clear: until the Ukrainians announced a plan to investigate the alleged Biden/Burisma corruption issue, there would be no meeting between Trump and Zelensky.”

Any ONE aspect of this would doom a normal person. With Rudy as with Trump, there's SO MUCH bad, it's hard to home in on just one thing.

I always thought his one redeeming virtue was his time as a prosecutor with the Southern District of New York, during which I have read that he put away some serious criminals. But it’s hard to believe that anyone as morally bankrupt as Giuliani did even that with clean hands.

Probably put away tRump's enemies. They were/are ALL criminals.

He did put away serious criminals, ignoring one of the crime families entirely, and opening the door for the Russian mob to come in.

Amazingly, I have one more. I recently watched on Max, "Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York." SPOILER ALERT: It turned out that the serial killer, who exclusively murdered young gay men in the late 80s and 90s, was a male nurse at Mt. Sinai Hospital. In the early 90s, Giuliani's mother, Helen, was at Mt. Sinai for something or other, and when it was reported that the serial killer was a nurse there, Mr. Mayor INSISTED on having his mother moved to a different hospital for her safety. Of course, the nurse had already been arrested, and Helen was not really a target of a gay serial killer anyway, but Rudy's rampant homophobia and desire to always be in the news didn't stop him from making a big show of "protecting" his mother. Conveniently, Helen died on 09/09/2002, so that on the 10th, the NY Post (what may be the OG Fake News) could run the headline: "GIULIANI MOURNS MOM ON 9/11 EVE."

I encourage, as I think I have before, EVERYONE to read "Grand Illusion" to really get a handle of Giuliani. It was released in 2006, and any time after that is recorded in recent history. Greg is right, Giuliani has ALWAYS been an "egomaniacal, self-serving, loquacious, mean-spirited, vile, and morally bankrupt" character. It started WAY before 9/11 and continues to this day.

ETA: "With the requisite trigger warning, I encourage everyone to read the lawsuit filed against Giuliani by his former employee, Noelle Dunphy."

This requires a little more than a trigger warning. It is the most repulsive thing I have read in a long time, but yes, read it or try to. Eventually you will start to skim it as the details are too horrific to take in. Giuliani is ALLEGEDLY a disgusting pig, the likes of which we have not seen before, and I'm going to go ahead and include Trump in that assessment. Keep in mind as you read that your mind will make pictures of what you're reading. That is the worst part.

I still watch re-runs of “Seinfeld”. It’s an interesting time capsule as they reference both Giuliani & Trump (in the ‘90’s). Back then they were just part of the New York landscape. Giuliani made a cameo appearance when he was running against Dinkins for Mayor. Every time I watch that episode, I wish to myself that Dinkins won. Progressive mental illness and Greed are a deadly combination. I have no doubt that he has been treating women this way for a very long time.

I don't either. None of that lawsuit surprised, but it was SO disgusting. I can't even imagine Ms. Dunphy's daily life with him -- it sounds like pure torture. And I'm not blaming the victim, but even for $1M a year (that he never paid anyway) I would have been out of there and making coffee at Starbucks. Popping Viagra all day! JFC!!

I think these people are so manipulative that they can convince you that what you are seeing/experiencing isn’t really happening or that it’s totally normal. I also wonder how she stayed in that situation but until you are in it, you can’t understand. It’s a grooming process and they are masterful at pinpointing your weaknesses.

On Letterman, too, he made frequent appearances. He understood well that one of his jobs as mayor was to stay in the spotlight, and was good at doing so. Alas.

Thanks, Steve. I didn't know that about his mother and the hospital. Disgusting. Reminds me of the time he tried to garner sympathy when the Shop Rite employee tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.

And I agree, the lawsuit makes for some harrowing reading. But that's who the guy is.

That lawsuit IS triggering...the man is deranged. It seems to me that Jack Smith might be interested in some of the content, if he has not already heard from her himself.

Awful. And it ain't the booze, either. The booze makes it worse, but not everyone who drinks that much behaves like that.
