You may not realize it but there are many of us who refuse to forget about Ukraine.
You are a hero for all that you do to keep people paying attention, and the people of Kherson remind us of the best of the human spirit. Thank you for your courageous efforts!
It is helpful to hear from one of the few journalists still chronicling the events there. Each region is suffering, and it is hard to read, think, and know about what this war is doing to the people who live there. Still, it is better to know than to imagine it is not happening. We will not close our eyes.
Many thanks, Zarina, for your writing - and photography! - skills. Each segment serves to remind us that, indeed, Ukraine is still here...on the map as you say literally! I am so glad Greg left you in "charge" of Prevail to keep Ukraine in the forefront of our minds. I am sharing your piece to spread the word. (I have had this profile picture since March of 2022, and will keep it there until you win this brutal war of aggression.)
Thank you again, Zarina. It is VERY unfortunate that the war in Israel has upstaged the war in Ukraine, which I think FAR more about than the one in the Middle East. Other than your excellent reporting, a person has to go to offshore publications like The Guardian, to find out any information. I salute you and your work. Please remain as safe as you can be.
Such a heartbreaking story Zarina. And at the same time heartwarming. I feel a connection to Ukraine as many neighbours near the farm I grew up on had ancestral ties to Ukraine. My father was proud to grow wheat to feed people as I am sure many Ukrainian farmers have been as well. I know you will prevail and again be a large contributor to feeding the world again.
Stay safe and thank you for the writing and images!
The human spirit at its best is beautiful, at its worst unimaginably grotesque. Reporting like this, in showing the full spectrum, gives us both the awareness of Putin’s cruelty and the hope that a greatly oppressed nation can survive, recover and rebuild.
Invincible Kherson: A Photo Essay
Heartbreaking yet powerful images and writing Zarina. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Greg and Zarina

My gawd, this is absolutely sickening to see such destruction caused by such a horrible little inhumane man’s actions!
As always thank you Zarina and Greg for allowing us to be a part of the spirit that drives Ukraine. Be safe Zarina!!
This brutal and beautiful reminder conveys with such power why we must continue to support the people of Ukraine. Thank you, thank you, Zarina.

Thank you for this deeply personal testimony.
