“He’s not a smooth talker. He’s not all that handsome. He’s a small kind of stature. He’s not a super charismatic guy. I think he just wields this impression of authority based on his military experience and his positions in government.”
Hey, Greg. For the first time, you have triggered for me the very real threat of a Trump-Gaetz ticket for 2024. With all the speculation about who Trump's VP would be, I cannot deny how appealing having Gaetz on the ballot as VP could be for many voters. Yes, he is a clown, but he is a dangerous clown.
When I imagine Trump not being able to complete a four-year reign as president, who better than Gaetz to carry the torch not only through 2028, but beyond as well. We must end the Electoral College ASAP!
I will be listening to Gal's interview with you with much interest. Thanks.
I think Trump won't choose Matt for the same reason he won't choose Mike: if he gets elected, and one of them is VP, he won't be long for his world. Or so he would reasonably fear.
Thank you, Greg. I’m not fond of “The Atlantic” as I’ve read from various sources that there are anti-democratic forces behind this publication. The big fat cats known as billionaires et al. Koch’s contribute monies to the publication as well as other well heeled far right “democracy killers.” Occasionally they publish some left wing discourse, yet ultimately, I find it difficult to digest. David Frum I believe was the editor at one point—and that fellow was lyin’ Dubya’s i.e. “War Criminal” speech writer! I’m more aligned with the “New Republic” and “Mother Jones.”
Thanks, Laura. Oh, New Republic for sure is great. I don't generally mind the Atlantic...it was the editor in chief there who wrote the "suckers and losers" story on Trump a few years ago. But I know what you mean. SO MANY of these pubs have bad money behind them. It's scary.
Mother Jones, I generally like, even though they wrote a whole article trying unsuccessfully to shoot down our "who owns Kavanaugh" narrative. One tries not to take stuff personally, but I'm not sure what the journalistic purpose was in defending/covering for the perjuring drunk Trump put on the court...
Alas, yes, this is very true. Tulsi is another one Trump might pick as VP, as Gal suggests in the interview. If so, LOTS of weird shit about her and her virulently homophobic guru will drop.
Why hasn’t Mike Flynn been recalled by the Army and court-martialed? Why hasn’t Matt Gaetz been indicted? There still seems to be justice in this country for the common folk. You and I would be in prison for doing less.
Be lt 45, Gaetz or Flynn, no less Bannon and Miller, they all suffer from the same condition, they firmly believe their shit doesn't stink. What surprises is how they are covered in it yet those, e.g. The Atlantic seem to become rapt by the odor, taken in not by the stink, rather trying to elevate the subject covered in shit. Worse they do this not by justifying the pile of shit, instead create false equivalents with others, e.g. 45 to 46. By putting fragrance free good guys next to the pile of shirt, the good guy acquires the smell. This has two impacts. First the good guy undeservedly smells. Secondly, more dangerously the pile of shit acquires an air of normalcy. Voters must understand where the real stench comes from and vote accordingly.
This wonderful comment is even better now, after Trump literally took a shit in his diaper in court yesterday and stunk up the joint so bad his attorneys gasped for breath like WWI soldiers at Ypres.
Another nice piece, Greg, timing appropriate for alternate juror selection... Looks like fun begins Monday. All our combined efforts are paying off. 👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😌
Not a good week… 34 guilty verdicts on low, E class felonies….. Had he not tried to gangsterize the court it might have been a fine and pat on the head… We shall see! 🤓🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😉

So much like Putin’s profile.
With "Christian" icing on his fascist cake.
Oh, wow, I never though of that. Excellent point.
Wow. It is scary. People actually jump out of bed each morning to do crazy. Thanks Greg for doing sane. Billserle.com
It certainly looks that way.

I don't think Trump's ego would allow him to share that much power with Gaetz.
That's only true if 45 lives forever. Not likely, according to the science I follow.
I'm betting he picks another harmless sycophant like Pence. Hopefully I'm right.
I hope you are right, Rick!
I think it has to be someone who lacks the courage to off him, but is also competent enough to do stuff. So: Stefanik.

the GOP doesn’t even realize they’re being taken over at gunpoint, right? 🤡 #ClownShow
They even make it easier to acquire the guns...
Just ask Kremlin trophy, Maria Butina.

Thank you for reading my comment! You brightened up my otherwise glum morning!

This dynamic and malevolent influencing is not confined to "The Right".
Fun Face: Tulsi Gabbard nominated Bernie in 2016 at Democratic National Convention.

That lady is, as “The Temptations” would harmoniously sing a, “Ball of Confusion!”

Questions that I cannot answer and wish I could.

Thank you
Sounds deep.
But
I dont do podcasts or tv.
I just read.
And this is why I give you a little transcript taste, Cal!
Thanks
Thanks. I agree Michael Flynn is VERY dangerous. Watch his "Christian" messaging. Terrifying.
One of the most dangerous threats to democracy out there.

Thanks, Ed. I wonder if he'll manage to say awake next week. I wonder how he'll manage not to scream stuff. This could be fun.

Lynell, great profile photo.
Where are the Sunday Pages? I feel like I'm missing out since my Louisiana email got discoed without warning.
