"Schumer could (have) taken advantage of the popular support and made everyone stick around. He did not." Agree wholeheartedly with McKay, why this man is the Senate Majority Leader? NY is not liable to elect an R senator; primary please?
While I agree with getting some of the old timers to retire (definitely Feinstein), I think the most important point keeps getting missed. None of this means anything if public perception is still controlled by "big propaganda". Why doesn't Congress reflect the will of the majority? Because most of the voters in this country have absolutely no clue what is really going on. They have and will continue to vote against their own best interests. I don't have a solution for this but awareness of the real problem is the first step.
I liked all of this, but this especially: "If three out of four people want to ban AR-15s and ensure that women are allowed safe and legal access to abortions, that should be the law of the land. A clutch of soulless dinosaurs in the Senate, and six Federalist Society reactionaries on the Supreme Court, should not thwart the will of 250 million people—i.e., the vast majority of Americans."
“I really think, for the good of the nation, Schumer, Pelosi, Clyburn, on and on, should all resign,”
THANK YOU, Adam McKay!! I'd add several people in there, but they are the usual suspects, so no need. Left and right, this Congress and several Congresses before them have been completely ineffectual. It seems the evilest people (looking at you, McConnell!) are the most effective. Even when that old, batty bastard is out of power, he's somehow still IN power. That would be fine if Schumer or whomever the Democratic Majority Leader is, used the same power available to the Great Turtle., but no, even in the face of the dirtiest politics I've seen in my 64 years, Schumer wants to continue to "play by the rules." It's ridiculous and gets us nowhere at all. Maybe I have a bias because he's my Senator, but I think Dick Durbin would be a FAR better Majority Leader, but instead we have Schumer, schlepping his way through the workday. There is also a Senator Amy Klobucher, in case anyone forgot!
The truth is that if I hadn't made a solid vow that I would never vote for another Republican again as long as I live, AND I had the luxury of not caring what happened to the country, I wouldn't vote at all. There have been very few people lately worthy of a vote anywhere in the country, Democrat or Republican. It's ALL about the money and the power. And we can forget term limits too since the people that would have to pass something like that are the same people it would affect. Never happen. Listening to this podcast right now!
Adam's right. Anyone older than me, 65, needs to go! I've been saying it for years. Remember the Golden Spur, like his father, WAS a Democrat and THAT, in my eyes, is why the Dems were so wishy-washy while he destroyed our country. They still are. Greg, you're too young to remember Atlantic City, but I get "fired up" remembering government limos pulling into Trump Plaza's valet parking every single ('88-'91) weekend and knowing damn well what those, then young, white, elected hot shots, from both parties, were doing there! My deceased fiancé managed an after hours club directly behind it and right next door was the Convention Center dock. Yeah! Talk about the psychology of corruption... Ha Ha Ha! ...And Trump and Epstein were friends by then too!

Excellence piece Greg.
Almost a Rant
I love a good diatribe.
This is one of your very best. Everyone should read it, and I intend to share it widely.

Greed. Until we figure out how to get rid of greed, the cycle will continue.
Oops. I apologize for all the typos.
That should have been "leaded" gas of political insanity.
Based on an old crime study.
OLD MEN
News outlets just concluded what we have know for sometime about Putins goal.
He is the incarnate of Peter the Great with a touch of Catharine.
So we dont forget the insane among us. Great piece. I have a word for those like Feinstein, McConnell, Grassley...institutionalized. We need term limits for members of Congress.
