Main Stream Media have failed us in 2016, continually keeping Trump in the news, but trying to treat both candidates as “equally bad actors”, this false equivalence put Trump in the White House by a mere 85,000 votes (no automatic recount...why?)to win the electoral college. Media continues with their false equivalence in 2020 by giving air to the fake “Hunter Biden” scandal, Q-Anon, white supremacy, Trump’s Black Water goons showing up in polling places in most swing states and blue states to intimidate voters and poll workers....Main Stream Media has failed in reporting these actions by Trump to our detriment entirely, keeping us off balance, and Trump chaos intact. We must tell our media that we want them to tell US all of the truth, all of the time, not selective omissions that are crucial to our democracy’s survival

The media has been awful, yes, but I've been impressed by how quickly they've shot down more recent obvious BS, as with the NY Post story.

Some of the media are “Woke” by now and many are undeniably onto Trump’s tricks, lies and games, but there are a surprising number who continue to walk that razor edge so as not to upset anyone or get kicked out of one of Trump’s/WH pressers, knowing full well that they will be played. For example, Maggie Haberman, NYT is one whose family has connections with a number of Trump holdings, and consequently has access but has used it to write puff pieces on Trump, skirting truth every time. It would have been better if she had recused herself offering up her access to Trump to a trusted colleague. Some CNN hosts and commentators, will say that Trump lies and point them out, but have yet to stop running his rallies or pressers in their entirety, and critique the lies after it’s over. Vanity Fair journalists also have this problem, excusing Trump’s actions with what “sounds like” reasonable excuses, and each claim that they have good sources in the Trump WH, but VF still writes flattering pieces for Trump to gloat over. Fox News too, after years of being Trump’s news station, have finally started telling truth, albeit on coronavirus, and what the scientists have said. After all, if Covid 19 was a hoax as Trump declared in March, why are Fox News hosts sitting at their home studios instead of being at Fox headquarters...pretty hard to explain to Trumpkins

I must say, the Classics major in me loves that you invoked Antoninus Pius!

I seem to remember that the Soviets had a nuclear waste dump that blew up a secret city, yes?

I've never heard of that, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Fantastic article, Greg. I was so hoping the UK would've done a second referendum on leaving the EU, since it seems lots of low information voters cast a "leave" vote without truly comprehending what it would mean. Still waiting for Scotland to secede from the UK...

Nope, the op worked there to perfection, alas.

One of the major geopolitical consequences of Trump's "presidency" is the rise of a multipolar world with a lot of bad autocratic actors: Xi, Putin, etc. If the U.S. fails to bring leadership to the global order, the world can easily destabilize and democracies the world over will be under threat.

Exactly. Trump looks to align WITH those dictators. Not the direction we should be headed in.

Great stuff as always, Greg. Thank you.

History repeating...the Trump and Putin agreement lasts as long as Trump can grab and hold power. This means that all parties to this particular agreement will be trying their very best to keep Trump in the White House through whatever means necessary.

I’ve heard that Trump et al is “bribing” and by “other means” the Electoral College representatives in all red states to keep their vote on the Republican side no matter how the popular vote goes...Brexit and the stolen 2016 election will be child’s play in contrast to their current machinations to keep “America in chaos” going, and their agent Trump, master at chaos, in our White House.
