Good morning. I can't be the only woman who asks how pedo Gaetz is not only walking around free but actually considered a "leader"? He, along with Biggs and Perry are just too damn smug. I'm still waiting for all hell to break loose, there will be a spark that starts the fire, honestly the hits keep coming & I can't believe folks haven't had enough by now. Once again, the frustration at the slow pace of justice I've been trying to keep at bay is sickening. AG Nessell of Michigan is frustrated too, she's re-opening the state's investigation of fake electors because the DOJ is fiddling while Rome burns. I see Brazil actually managed to arrest at last count 1500 of their renegade terrorists (wearing their football shirts - don't get me started on that!) and tens of thousands took to the streets of Sao Paulo in a counter protest in support of the Lula government and democracy. Imagine that concept! I'm losing faith, I'm keeping my powder dry.
What's happening in Brazil, in the aftermath of the failed coup, is great for Brazil, embarrassing for us. How can they have their shit together and we don't?

I did a little research about Louis DeJoy because I cannot believe he's still there. The President cannot fire the Postmaster General. He can only be fired by the U.S. Postal Service's Board of Governors of which includes Louis DeJoy. He's not going to fire himself! The scariest thing about the Pennywise characters currently in the House is McCarthy, because he is so malleable. He has no backbone keeping him upright. He’s a foot soldier not a leader. So the thing to pay attention to is “who’s leading him?” And I do think we need to be concerned about the health of Biden and Harris. They have already shown us how far they are willing to go with all of the antics of the past 6 years. Why should we think they will not do the next crazy thing?

I had moments of hope, especially after President Biden & Vp Harris were elected.& then after the recent mid- terms, that perhaps we've turned a corner. I thought perhaps far more Americans had finally come to their senses, opened their eyes & ears & minds & recognized the grave danger trump & his syncophants had put America, her fragile democracy & her citizens futures under, after the election, the subsequent denial of the truth, the BIG LIE & the events of January the 6th.
Then I am reminded we've still not seen the insurrectionist ringleaders ( including trump) of the events of January 6th, move much closer to being indicted & seeing potential prison time. This must leave them all emboldened, gloating & gleeful, in lieu of shaking in their boots; given the balls they appear to have in not tempering their speech or actions.
Twenty people held Congress hostage until they reached their objective. That only leads to a further realization (when I follow the logical trajectory & your reminder) that any MAGA devotee, placed in the speaker's position could well end up as vice president or God forbid, president, should something happen to Joe Biden & VP Harris, by natural causes or otherwise. But I put no nefarious actions beyond their twisted reasoning or means. And I must believe there are some well protected folks with a great deal of money & power ( within this nation & outside), who wish & support these people, to continue forward & take control, in support of a mutually beneficial agenda. But like trump, they just wouldn't be getting their hands dirty. As the nuns used to tell the kids at Catholic school dances, leave enough space between you for the holy ghost, or in this case, the "devil." Enough space for "plausible" deniability, at least in a court of law.
And I know i must sound a bit kooky to some, putting these thoughts out here into "print." But I realize that there is no where in this world that we could go, to not watch in horror, the writhing, last gasps of Democracy & the tenets of our Constitution going up in flames, should these people succeed. The impact would be felt worldwide & immediately.
So, there is no choice but to continue to fight the good fight, as an uncle of mine used to say and continue to sound the alarm, that we are not out of the dark wood, just yet. With pen, with words, with truth and hopefully with a wide measure of justice; when Garland hopefully has enough concrete evidence ( a wall I hope these villains go headfirst into) to issue subpoenas & indictments before a grand jury. And I pray, a jury of our peers, will see the wisdom in meting out justice in terms of decades..Not a slap on the wrist or a handful of years, for these vainglorious, ignoble, egregious, evil-doers. And we all must do our part at keeping darkness at bay; If by no other means than ordinary men speaking truth, to light the way through the darkness.
As I sit in my "she shed" on the second floor today, I am listening to an album that first came out over 50 years ago, Monster, by Steppenwolf, of which the song's refrain poses the question, " America, where are you now? Don't you care about your sons & daughters? Don't you know we need you now, we can't fight alone against the Monster.."

Rachel Maddow, last night, covered a new "rule" put in place by the Sedition Caucus, in that the sexual-assault-adjacent ape, Jim Jordan, will be the head of the Judiciary Committee, and they've decided that in addition to "overseeing" the DOJ, they also want to oversee the ongoing criminal cases in the DOJ -- in other words, Trump. It's not a mystery why they'd suddenly want to try and compromise ongoing investigations. Whether they'll succeed or not will probably get to the SCOTUS, and if there's one thing you can say about them it's that we really DON'T know how they'll rule these days. They might follow the law, or they might follow their politics. WORST! SCOTUS! EVER! In addition to that BS, they plan on investigating anything they can get their hands on to try to impeach Biden, and do you think anything the Squeaker of the House says about that will matter if it's what they want? I don't. McCarthy's an appeaser as long as he can keep "HIS PRECIOUS," the Speaker's gavel.
I wonder if Susan Collins thinks that all the traitorous seditionists around the country, the Proud Boys, the 3%ers, the Oath Keepers, have all "learned their lesson" from January 6th and all the arrests and convictions? No. The attacks continue. Five Democratic Party offices and homes were shot up in New Mexico over this past weekend (i.e., target practice). Nobody was injured or killed, THIS TIME. I have no illusions anymore about what the right-wing in this country, and around the world, will DO to make their fascist utopian dreamland come to pass. And now Pennywise is in charge of the House? I know things have always been bad, I have no illusions about that, but this all feels particularly bleak. This is made worse by the fact that it's a small but vocal and powerful minority doing all of this. Most Americans don't want it. But by the time they realize it, it may be too late.
...and so much more that I'm seeing, hearing and reading that is unsettling. Wish it was just a nightmare from which we can wake up.
