As a Boomer, lifelong pinko hippie radical lib, also dad and g’pa and comeuppanced McGovern voter I would also prefer a younger woman of color to bring our country back to reality. I happen to be one who actually loves seeing smart younger people with high energy taking over the world. However my experience has clearly taught that winning with an ally is MUCH better than losing with my perfect candidate, as republicans have hopefully learned that losing with an evil asshole would be much better than the alternative...

I am 100% in. And especially for the team he will build. I already feel that the team and the bench will make me cry with relief. Plus he knows what the place looked like before the shitshow.

I voted for Joe Biden LAST Tuesday (early voting) in the Texas Primary. Like you, Greg, my heart belonged to Kamala Harris. It still does. But Joe's the man of the hour, so I'm riding with him to the White House and we'll just have to see what Kamala does in her very bright and brilliant future--great things, I'm sure, great things. So, I agree with every darned thing you say in this article, including its nuanced disappointments with Joe and the restrained but still enthusiastic support you are throwing his way. Same. I feel the same. I trust Joe. That feels so rare and special right now that it will sustain me through November and beyond, I expect. I have two suggestions as to your text: 1. Please don't quote Woody Allen ("the heart wants...") because it takes me right out of the moment and 2. Captain PICARD, diplomat and thinker, not Kirk, makes more sense in this situation, don't you agree? Keep telling us all about it and showing us the light, Greg. You are a light in a dark world!
