#TGIF🎉🎉🎉Wondering when the media will also start investigating, and then reporting on, the GOP taking up Putin’s agenda. Why, it’s almost like the GOP is actively working to destroy America and democracy from the inside. Cue Nikita Kruschev.

Funny how this piece came out a few hours before the story about the lost binder of Russian intel. The dude is Kremlin'd up and has been for a long long time.

Thank you for this warning. I’m going to listen to the audio after breakfast (I started to say during but probably best to eat first before outrage). Keep sounding the alarm, Greg. We need you.

Hopefully as the election gets closer the media will not be afraid to call Donald out. Is he really that entertaining? No.

Do we need another attempted coup on America? NO.

The Maga people, including the majority of my elderly family members, worship him. What they don't understand is the disdain I feel for the fascicist in our midst and how I will do everything in my little world to not have our country run by him or others like him again.

And thank you Greg... for you, LB, and other like-minded folks getting me (and our country) through another election with him as the gop nominee. It's going to be a long year.

Substack IS where it's at! I have given up almost all of my other media contacts for Substack columns. Greg was the first and will always be my favorite, but there are so many others that are well worth the time to read: Joyce Vance, Rick Wilson, Heather Cox Richardson, Thom Hartmann, and if you're not offended by REALLY salty language, Jeff Tiedrich. And now, Steven Beschloss. Mass media of almost any kind has not served us well, as Greg points out in this column, and it's REAL people I watch and listen to now.

My sense is that most people feel that disdain. Over the next year, there are going to be more Kate Cox stories. And women will die. They can't brush the Dobbs thing under the rug. Pundits have moved on; voters have not.

The hopeful ending is refreshing. Not so that it encourages complacency, rather a call to action, VOTE FOR JOE!

MAGA-world treats 45 as entertainment, essentially they revel in the clown show, one that sees the Bozo crash and burn traditions that they feel have kept them back. Americans have always been a can do people. At some point they became exhausted and became a cannot do nation, rather something keeps me from doing, generally Reagan's government is the problem that holds people back. The nouveau riche started in their garage and became billionaires. Why can't they do this. Seemingly less educated tik tokkers make fortunes, essentially riches for nothing. What the hell is an influencer?

Those behind 45, Bannon, Manafort and Miller types, also the nouveau riche although not the garage tik tokker type, saw the opening, a clown whose only claim to fame was Your fired, the perfect stooge to mouth their frustrations and hate. The founding fathers never envisioned having a carnival barker run for President, therefore the gentlemanly Constitution is woefully lacking in remedies. It does however offer one tried and true remedy, enough people voting such that the flawed electoral college allows Joe Biden to remain as 46. As we cannot rely on the media to get a clear message out, every citizen must do more than cast one vote, they must spread the word, vote for good, not evil.

Thanks Greg for continuing to sound the alarm about trump & the press. Old man, I agree with you on most of what you stated in your comment. BUT my concern is that many of our citizens, aged 16 - 74 have the equivalent of a 6th grade reading/ comprehension level. ( Recently read it's about 54% of the nation.) So, does that suggest that 54% of adult Americans have the equivalent of a 6th graders ability to think critically? If so, imo we're in trouble. The last 20 odd years, many folks have been fed on, or chose to feed on a diet of moronic, fake, " reality" tv shows; that appeared to be scripted (for many) based on a pre- pubescent's notion of how the world operates, tantrums, nastiness, disrespectful behaviors & all. That could suggest we're in for some trouble in " River City" amigos. And it's not about having a pool table or gambling in town. The only "gambling" you're doing, is gambling on America's democracy, if one casts a vote for trump. But I'm certain I am preaching to the choir.

The graphic at the top is perfection! It hits all the high points of THAT MAN'S legacy, with the Chef's Kiss of a clip describing how Hitler didn't hate the Jews THAT much.

As I just mentioned in a reply to another commenter here, the media has not been doing their jobs for quite a while, and I have all but given up on any semblance of actual, honest reporting. I do have a reminder set up at The Guardian to alert me on Jan 1st to subscribe, but at this point, other than them, there's no one left. And Steven Beschloss is right; if you can't call a lie, a lie, instead of using weasel words like claim, falsehood, and my favorite, disingenuous, you don't deserve to be publishing or reporting. Yes, using "lie" might "offend" someone, but at least it would be the truth. But they don't do that because now that news reporting is a profit center, losing anyone because they're "offended" by the truth is not done. A lie is intentional, it's not a claim or a falsehood, or a mistake. It's intended.

Will get to the podcast this afternoon and hope to get to the Five-8 tonight! And Steven Beschloss' book on Lee Harvey Oswald and his deeply strange mother has my full attention -- adding that to the digital pile.

ETA this: Rick Wilson pointed out this article today and it has lots of bearing on today's subject. It's well worth the read: https://www.economist.com/1843/2023/12/14/when-the-new-york-times-lost-its-way

I get what he means about being courteous. I'm like that. I don't like to ruffle feathers. But journalists have to ruffle feathers. That's the job. What did Orwell say? Journalism is printing what someone doesn't want printed. Everything else is PR.

I’ve always been appalled at the lopsided coverage he’s gotten, especially as a candidate, and the inordinate amount of free publicity. You and Beschloss did a great job here of neatly packaging up my random thoughts on the subject, that I’m sick and tired of entertaining.

Carnival barker with a flame thrower. Obama was half right. I’m sure that Obama and HRC know that if chump gets back in that they and their families are in the cross hairs. And nobody would be able to stop him. His creative evil will be front and center. How can we be so stupid. The majority is not, but there is a minority that has no brakes on the worst that humanity is capable of. MSM might want to wake up, before it’s too late.

Greg, don’t you just want Fake 45 out of our lives? It’s like he takes all of the oxygen out of the room. Hopefully 🤞🏼Jack Smith is pulling all of the rabbits out of his hat to get this bastard convicted and get him to a place of bankruptcy, like his friend, Rudy.

Speaking of schmucks and digging your own grave, Rudy had quite a judgment thrown wt him today, did he not? It was glorious and a total vindication for Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman. They are entitled to everything he owns. Fake 45 better pay attention because he’s next in line.
