And I forgot to add: Harriet Vane gave Lord Peter Wimsey a letter by John Donne as a wedding present. Those two knew about sacred and profane love, as did Donne. I cry at this sonnet, too, but these days, I cry at the drop of a hat.
It is hard to have hope, to see beyond this sad time. Harder still to look inside the self---to the darkness in my own soul and the work I have to do.
