I love it. I am three years older than your father, so I understand the “age” part, & I also had the best Dad in the world. He passed in 1998 & I still miss him. I’m glad to hear you have such a loving relationship with your Father. That’s a blessing not shared by everyone. Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful essay. How lucky you were to have a father who recognized that you were creative in a different way than he. A tear slide down my cheek when I read he was always in my corner and still is! Happy Father’s Day to you and your dad.

Thank you. A beautiful tribute. My father has been gone now on 13 years, and he raged into that good night fighting idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. I miss him dearly.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Shamelessly sharing on FB which I’ve reactivated after a 4 year hiatus.

It’s more than a happy Father’s Day message. It’s a happy humans day message for the entire world: life ends when we stop fighting for the things that are important to us.

Especially in this time and place, it’s critical to get the word out to the universe. We won a battle, but the enemy is within us. Don’t let up. Don’t look away. Stay vigilant. Stay true. Stay active.

Stay alive.

Happy Fathers Day to my Twitter crush. I hope you feel the warmth of family, cherished by friends and that you end the day with a grin on your lips as your head hits the pillow. 🤗

This is such a beautiful tribute to a lovely and loving man, and I have to admit to welling up right now. I won’t be able to think of that great poem without connecting it to a word Thomas did not use, but which seems thematically appropriate in connecting what your Dad has always done and what you continue to do: PREVAIL.

Thank you, Greg, for a beautiful, uplifting essay. My father died 60 years ago and I think of him every day. Unlike your father, he couldn’t fix a thing mechanical; like your father, he supported me in every important way. He set the standard for subsequent men in my life.

Beautiful Greg. If you're ever up Woodstock VT ways I'd enjoy meeting you. I'm not sure I agree with rage, rage, but it's a worthy consideration. I discovered at 70/71 the writings of Dalai Lama, a lot of it centered on dying and the decaying that precedes. Interesting to compare what you write with what he writes. Lots to think about.

You're a lucky man and undoubtedly your father feels the same. Adore this poem's message of anger & resistance, which is applicable in so many metaphoric ways. Aside ~ my younger son is named after Dylan Thomas as he was born in Wales, right near Thomases' cabin in Laugharne. Highly recommend a visit...

Much love to you and your father. We could be siblings as my dad is exactly the same. And he is starting to fail in his health. It’s hard to watch.

Great choice -- excellent for Venting and yes, that élan is a precious thing in individual personalities and organizations. It can be lost in those, too. Beware

Ah, Greg, I find the older I get, the easier I am brought to tears. In some ways it's annoying and in others, I appreciate it. My dad has been gone since 1997 and while I don't think of him every day, when I do, I still miss his presence. Days like Father's Day bring it all back. When he died we were finally getting to that point in life where we could have become "friends," rather than parent and son. That's probably my biggest regret -- that we didn't get to fully explore a father/son friendship. But in the end, I can't complain much because I do have a lot of good memories of him. He never gave up. This poem is perfection for today.

Happy Father's Day, Greg, to you and your dad!
