I am just so happy I stumbled across Narativ, and then PREVAIL, I have learned so much from you and your friends, I can lead conversations about things I had never even thought about before. People do look at me funny but it absorbs into their minds, good seeds planted. LOL. Thank you, Greg, for the education. I look forward to so much more. But don't forget to take a break now and then you certainly deserve it. And congratulations on a year of PREVAIL!

Thanks. As it happens, I'm taking a much-needed break week after next. I figure by then I'll have at least a few nights to exhale, one way or the other.

Greg, Prevail has been a godsend for me since I joined last spring. Like a Yellow Submarine of Sanity. You've taught me so much, made me laugh, cleared up a lot of confusion & encouraged so much resolve in me, I can't thank you enough.✊🏻💙🇺🇸🌊🌊🌊

Greg. Kudos to you for "prevailing" and giving us the deepest dive on Trump Fuckery. I feel Privileged that you may have used, what I think I coined, Trump Fuckery. And, that is fine. Or, we thought of it at the same time. TF is so fitting. Vietnam Veterans Against War.

Thanks. I love that word, because it sort of sounds like "pottery," as in Pottery Barn. Also, it perfectly expresses what's been happening.

Step 1: Win in Nov

Step 2: Kill filibuster

(The following can happen in any order/simultaneously)

Step 3: Pass progressive versions of the bills McC won't look at

Step 4: Pack courts - add 4 seats to SCOTUS

Step 5: Statehood for DC and PR

Step 6: Investigate and prosecute the criminals

Step 7: Ignore whining from ppl who have governed "with a mandate" even though they have lost the popular vote in 6 of last 7 presidential and net votes in every Senate/House cycle in memory

I just discovered you a few months ago and through all of the other muck that one must read through to try and keep up, your column has always been a shining beacon of sanity. You've truly shined much needed light on this dark age of the Trump Era. Thank you and happy anniversary.

A brief video about the Kennedy family's fondness for that poem. I remember RFK using it in a speech.

I thank you and this community for intelligent, wise perspective. I always look forward to your posts, Greg.

Oh, that's awesome. I didn't know that about the Kennedys! I was first introduced to the poem at my first job, in a video library at an ad agency. UBS had this odd campaign where good actors read stirring poems. So....yeah:

When I saw the title I immediately thought of RFK quoting it in a speech. I originally thought he quoted it when he informed the Black community in Indianapolis of Martin Luther King's death (he was there on a campaign stop and found out the death had not been announced). I was wrong - he quoted Aeschylus during that speech.

So even though he quoted a different poem here is a link to his speech that night just because it speaks to so much of we are still seeing:

And thank you for the link! I enjoyed it immensely.

Finding PREVAIL made me feel like one of the cool kids ~ wouldn't have survived this last year without you and your merry band of misfits' wit and snark. Tragically, the Trumps will provide a lifetime of content, but we Jersey kids knew that pre-2016 right?

Thanks so much for the support and the great commentary. And yes, it was obvious to all Jersey kids, especially those of us with subscriptions to SPY Magazine in 1990.

Thank you, Greg.

I'm an officially addicted news junkie, so I usually "know" "everything", but I have come to depend on your perspective, including your ability to connect the dots and present us with a concise and informative narrative. That you are able to do this in such a timely manner as relates to current affairs is astonishing, and is, I am sure, greatly appreciated by more than just this one reader.

I sense a bit of the philosopher in you, which to my ear, sets your writing apart. You are able to place your writings within a context that is deeper and more profound than most "opinion" pieces, allowing your readers to fully absorb the weight of this moment. You invite us to think and reflect, and, yes, your great sense of humor makes it a fun ride.

I will be clinging to you in the coming weeks! Thank you for your good work.

Oh, and speaking of....like my NJ cousins here, we in NYC fking KNOW these grifters - including the kids. Very much looking forward to what Letty James (NY State AG), and Cy Vance (NYC DA), have in store (even if Vance is tap dancing to cover for past complicity). Personally, I'm rooting for Princess Vanky in stripes. Please, God, let me live to see it!
