An eloquent and apt comparison: the fallen angels to the fires of hell, with all Trumpers doomed to a similar fate. One major difference: Miller's satanic outcasts are immortal, to suffer for all of eternity. They hang around to torment forever.
On the other hand (a purple hand?).....Trump and McConnell are OLD and one day they will wither on their Vine of Vengeance and actually die. A done deal.
Nice. The restoration of Charles II to England’s throne was the social and political backdrop of Milton’s epic, and Ogg’s 2 vol study is a beautiful discussion. Basically, a significant portion of the British public—including most of its wealthy individuals—really wanted a king. That’s why I am scared by what we’ve seen. We’ve had no shortage of traitors and miscreants here, but thankfully we’ve avoided kings. This recent insurrection looks exactly like the rise of royalists, who seek a divinely appointed king incapable of doing wrong.
My actual reading of Paradise Lost, apart from the excerpts here, is that it is secretly a pro-democracy, anti-monarchy tome. It's all about politics, with religion as a cover.
I suspect it's because it would violate the first rule in their Style Guides which is "Don't hurt white people's feelings."

Your description brings me great joy and comfort, all the more if I replace "a bedpan" with "his bedding." I've never claimed to be charitable.
Mortal demons, yes yes!
