BOOM!! Apparently, someone paid the fine for her, and she was pissed because that denied her the right to appeal; she had wanted to bring her case to the Supreme Court.

My favorite ass-kicker of all time is Sojourner Truth (https://www.thesojournertruthproject.com/). I particularly like the part of her famous speech where she pointed at various men in the room who had spoken before her and called them out on their nonsense: "THAT man over there said...." Brilliant.

Really grateful to learn this history, Greg, & of this paragon of courage, who, with her sorority of suffragists, put everything on the line so a woman like me can vote, run for office, never marry with no adverse consequences, conduct a well-paying career, get a large loan from a bank to buy a house, and live a peaceful & secure existence. All of us owe them so much. The elevation of women's rights benefits everyone in a society. All that said (!!!), it staggers the mind to think that the Equal Rights Amendment has STILL not been ratified since it was passed in Congress in March, 1972. And the GOP has been constantly chipping away at a woman's ability to do family planning since Roe v. Wade was litigated. They don't want you to have an abortion, but they don't want you to have access to affordable, effective birth control either!
