I agree with you, except I think people are fighting back. The Resistance and disgust across the land is huge. We are a nation in shock we’re discovering how difficult it is to remove an inept evil person from office. I truly believe we can rise up to remove him and them.
Yes, I totally agree! Trump makes the most of every situation- those that he can make advantageous to himself and his goals. We can’t ever underestimate him, think him stupid or mentally deficient. Not only is he crafty, telling us what he is thinking or doing-a deed formerly considered impossible, totally against the rules we say! Because we can’t believe his audacity-so we repeat what he has said in shocked or fearful tweets...
We find ourselves in an incredible situation, one that can’t be solved by simply voting Trump out, or making it law that mail in ballots are necessary because of the pandemic. Meanwhile Trump is ten steps ahead doing something really heinous behind the scenes, and he has help-there are so many like minded people helping him, Putin, the Saudi’s, Netanyahu, and Koch Industries, other corporations that depend on a Republican government to make even more money. Trump is the frontman, he is the tool, the brains aren’t necessarily in his head but we should never underestimate just where we are headed as a nation with him at the helm, it is guaranteed we won’t like it, and if worse comes to worst, we may even want to move somewhere else...but...we can’t escape these authoritarians- even Trump has said he has plans for Canada, and...in our minds that sounds completely bonkers, but maybe he does have ideas that he can own north and South America...So, we need to think the worst, accept that and prepare to fight with everything we have... because the picture I have in my head is the worst dystopian future ever imagined.
Obama refused to make public Russian interference in the election though it was known of a few months before the election. Comey refused to resist smearing HRC right before the election even though he was fully aware of trump’s history as an informer and Russian asset. We all wallowed in shock on Nov. 9, ‘16 instead of accepting the evidence of our eyes that trump was right when he told us the election was rigged. We and the rest of the electorate which is law abiding and loyal to the American system of government refuse to step outside the ring because it’s against the rules, even though our opponent(s) are winning by any means necessary. They have several months left to put America beyond rescue, while we dutifully sit in our homes and refuse to accept what seems too outrageous to even name...
I’ve been trying to say this very same thing since Nov 2016. Each time I bring up Obama’s failure, I’m slapped back & shamed. Each time I suggest we will not triumph without breaking the rules & thinking outside the norms I am reminded the path to change is through the next election. People, Democrats especially, are far too complacent & willing to stick to the status quo. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone, it gives me hope that with enough of us, perhaps we actually can effect the change required. ...if it’s not too late.
If the criminal GOP succeeds in increasing chaos and death into the autumn, and allow the US Postal Service to collapse as well, WE THE PEOPLE MUST PROVIDE FOR THE COLLECTION AND DELIVERY OF VOTE-BY-MAIL to counting centres. Trump knows the hated GOP will be swept from office if we can do this.
