You capture it well. The “never aware” that takes decades for reflection to reveal it. Thank you.

One of my favorite poems. I often post it. Happy Father’s Day, Greg!

Happy Father’s Day! My husband and I are now in our 18th year of parenthood, about to release our oldest child into the world. I can say with much certainty, she has raised us as much as we have raised her. She has taught us how to be mature people in the world and how to take responsibility for our choices. We have altered our lives to ensure that both of our daughters’ not only survive but thrive. The teenage years have prepared us for the “letting go” in shocking ways. Acceptance is the smoothest avenue to take at this stage of parenthood.

Powerful poem and commentary. Hayden conveyed so much love and meaning with so few words.

Happy Father's Day to you. And Happy Juneteenth to all.

My father passed away when I was four years old. My new dad came along when I was ten. To be able to have a father to wish Happy Fathers Day to was epic. He was, as my mom would say, a rough tough cream puff. He gave me these: "Don't go away mad, just go away" and "Here's your hat, what's your hurry" and "Don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out." For all of that, he was my hero. Memories abound of all the ways he showed his love to the two kids he took on as his own. I miss him.
