Unfortunately this joke implies that Trump is a gardener, whereas we all know he’s the shepherd.

This comedy idea sounds really promising. Main stream media continues their refusal to call out the lies of Fox fake news and other right wing media, so Fox continues its juggernaut of lies uncontested. Most people are either stuck in a right wing alternate reality, or they just don't know what's really going on. The truth definitely needs some help. Maybe this is the way to break through to them. (Plus, I need to laugh more... 😂)

If they do this right, it really could be a game-changer.

I was thinking more like "Birds aren't real", only on a bigger scale. Showing how absurd the right wing crap really is.

Jordan Klepper is hilarious! I loved his show "The Opposition with Jordan Klepper". Was sad it didn't last long.

YES! I am SO tired of the generic political ads I've been seeing the past few months, especially for Richard Irvin, who is little known in Illinois except that he is/was mayor of a small city outside Chicago who now wants to be governor. He's trying to sell the idea that JB Pritzker is bad for Illinois what he's done over the past four years is knock the state debt down to nothing, pays the bills on time, and had a very sensible COVID response. ALL of the ads are negative, and they're relentless. On the other hand, there's a Democrat running for Cook County Assessor who compares property taxes to too many condiments on hot dogs. It's funny and gets the point across.

I am here for the funny! This campaign season, in addition to the general election and definitely 2024 is going to need it. That last video is also my favorite and now has a place in my personal library in my collection called, "The Rise and Fall of Donald J. Trump." SOMEday, I'll look back. Maybe.

Richard Irvin is being bankrolled by billionaire Ken Griffin to the tune of $25 million. His commercials portray him as intelligent and competent - a "law and order" advocate. He has refused to talk to the media except once. It did not go well. He stammered over all of his answers and refused to answer any questions except those that were part of his agenda (sound familiar?) - hardly the polished candidate the tv ads have tried to create. One of the outright lies he tells in one tv ad is that he "will not pardon Mike Madigan" if elected Governor. Mike Madigan (former longtime Illinois House Speaker) has been indicted under Federal Charges. A Governor cannot pardon anyone found guilty of Federal crimes. Only the President of the United States can grant a Federal pardon, as we've had to stomach many times under the former orange one.

Ken Griffin was the guy I couldn't remember when I wrote my comment. THAT guy! As far as I'm concerned EVERYONE should be limited in their contributions to ANY candidate at ANY time to whatever the maximum contribution amount is -- I think $2,700 -- then everyone is on a level playing field. Too much money just BUYS candidates, who then have to pay back for the "donation." I'd also agree with the current line about "term limits." Madigan was in there too damned long. I think the longer you're there, the easier it is to become crooked.

Irvin then, IS telling the truth, right? He won't pardon Madigan because he can't! What a moron. He just seems excessively arrogant for just having a history of being mayor of Aurora. The last I heard, Aurora is still a hellhole, and I notice he doesn't really tout his time there in his CONSTANT ads. I kind of hope he wins the nomination so I can watch Pritsker crush him in the General! lol

Oh Steve! Do you want to hear something really funny? Aurora was named "best town to live in" in one of those lists that come out every once in awhile. This was shortly after Irvin announced he was running. I was like, "Whaaaattt?" After thinking about it, I would not be surprised if some of that $25 million went to whoever published the list because I KNOW Aurora is not one of the best places to live. And yes, I guess he is telling the truth that he "will not" pardon Madigan - he just left out the part that it isn't humanly possible. But I'm sure he can use that argument in his upcoming trial if he continues to sell his soul to the Republicans. I do think he will win the primary - so we're in for quite a show when he only has Pritzker to snipe at. I agree with term limits and I'm sure Madigan is guilty of much more that he will ever be charged with.

Aurora can only be considered, "best town to live in" by people who have never been there. I used to live up in Villa Park, so my insurance audit field work meant Aurora was in my zone. The very few times I was there were very eye-opening. Trashy streets, potholes all over, and let's be kind and say, "riff-raff," all over downtown in the middle of the day. I'm a big guy and I was scared to be in Aurora! Luckily, there was another auditor who lived in Elgin, so I could refuse Aurora jobs and have them assigned to him. Ugh, no!

Finally, I keep wondering: who is Irvin talking to in his commercials? Stereotypically speaking, Republicans from just south of Springfield and lower aren't going to vote for a Black man for governor, neither is Peoria or any of those other farmy places. I think he's managed to alienate Black voters in and around Chicago with his "All Lives Matter" rhetoric, and "backing the blue" and all that other crap in his first set of ads. So, who does he think will vote for him in Illinois? It's a mystery to me.

Funnier to me is the "Man of Faith," Jesse Sullivan, who promises to do all the things that JB already did! "Eliminate the grocery tax!" Oh yeah, already done. "Freeze the gas tax!" Done. "Increase property tax rebates!" Yup, done. He doesn't even seem to know he's running in Illinois, the California of the Midwest! JB is the best governor we've had in a very long time, and I think he will be very hard to beat. None of these guys are up to it, that's for sure.

I have no idea who they think will vote for Irvin downstate. However, "Family Man" Jesse Sullivan is exactly who they will vote for downstate. He has a new commercial showing he and his wife sitting in a church and he's talking about Pritzker "celebrating" abortion (no one in that situation is celebrating). His look-alike wife is dutifully sitting next to him nodding silently. Putrid! His campaign texted me a few weeks ago to ask for my support. I promptly texted back that I am voting for Pritzker. No idea how I got on that list!

That's the part that infuriates me whenever a Republican talks about abortion: that somehow Democrats or anyone for that matter, is "pro" abortion. I don't think anyone is PRO-abortion. During my life, I have accompanied two of my friends to abortion clinics, and there was NO celebration about it. I will never know what it is actually like, but I sensed it was a devastating day for both of them, and they didn't just snap back to "normal" afterwards. It seemed both physically and emotionally draining with a lot of guilt that could STILL be there. I've started referring to "pro-life" as pro-forced birth because that's what they're talking about when they talk about overturning Roe and leaving it to the States, a lot of which are still in the 19th century back when they were the Confederacy. I saw a map last night of the states that have trigger-laws when Roe is overturned -- we're SURROUNDED! The closest state to Illinois that will leave abortion legal is Minnesota -- all the others are going back to making abortion illegal because Jesus. Ugh!
