I would love to hear you interview Kurt Anderson right now. He brings such clarity, historical perspective, and wit to the challenges American democracy faces. I do believe this is the 1850s redux. Growing up LDS (now lapsed Mormon), I'm acutely aware that a vast part of America was in the grips of a fever dream during that period similar to what grips a large part of our country today. So many parallels. Read Early Mormonism and the Magic World View by Michael D Quinn.

“Fever dream” sounds about right. But maybe nightmare describes it best.

Yowsa, Greg Olear. A trailer that delivers! Kudos to Chunk. LB said it best: "When they go low, bury them!" On to the podcast.

I was so happy to hear her say the quiet part out loud.

Reagan’s Raw Deal. Says it best. Attracted evil money like moths to a flame.

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Mar 17, 1985. “‘Conservative Revolution will alter all policies, spokesman says’ “(Lew) Lehrman…was handpicked by Reagan to head the grass-roots conservative lobby, Citizens for America. ..We are at the very beginning of this conservative revolution…We are not even in the middle of it. Our economic, our social, and our international policies are going to be altered in every significant aspect. The President hasn’t even begun the program of constitutional reform and the change in social policy.”

I wish I could post the copy of the whole article. It will make the blood run cold.

I get the picture, Jeri, even without the whole article. It just burns me how these cretins name themselves "Citizens for America," and other such similar titles.

Lehrman was still alive the last time I googled him. Wonder if he is proud of the debacle they set in motion…
