I wonder about this: is Trump more popular in the media than in real life? I think yes. These networks keep going to the well until it dries up. My guess is, many if not most Americans have moved on and are as sick of Trump as we are. He's not going to GAIN voters by being indicted like this.

I disagree with one thing: the media’s coverage IS a disgrace.

Greg Olear's avatar

I'm not going to argue. But some of the reporting has been good (like Anna Bower). The TV media? Disgrace.

No pretrial conditions! No bail, gag order, passport surrender, etc - even the judge appeared surprised. He's still receiving preferential treatment unlike Reality Winner, Jack Teixeira and others. I'm thoroughly disgusted.

Greg Olear's avatar

And the preferential treatment is coming from the DOJ. It's all very strange.

IMO - I think it’s because their case is so tight (DOJ is not allowing anything his lawyers can call prejudicial), you won’t get to watch him on the way to jail, but jail is where he’ll be - can I get an amen?

Do I dare wonder if our IC community doesn’t have things in play to get back our most precious secrets from a hostile foreign agent that is no longer POTUS. Diet coke valet makes me wonder Greg. But we’ve dreamed before -sigh. I read Anna Bowers courtroom description article earlier this week & then I couldn’t find it again😑. It was sooo good! Details you don’t expect. TY for putting it here. Both you & Gal are sooooo on point. 💗

Thanks, Jenn. I like to think the IC new he was bad news and treated him accordingly, but what do I know? We are only guessing. The CIA lost a lot of informants overseas early in Trump's presidency. Why?

I’ve served in the military. I’ve had a security clearance. On TV I’ve seen people handcuffed and hauled off to jail for a bag of weed or slapping their mother-in-law. Don’t tell me the justice system treats everyone equally. When arguably the biggest traitor in the history of the country gets to strut around, spewing lies and hate while he’s running for president, no wonder millions of us have lost faith in the system.

Maybe, but so what? Those fuckers are going to be angry no matter what. He should be under house arrest with a gag order. Napoleon on St Helena.

Trump is absolutely being treated differently. And I get it, as the FPOTUS, some concessions should be made. But this is ridiculous, just ridiculous. All criminals will run for office now, as it brings immunity.

The lack of pre-trial conditions on Trump makes the public think the crimes can't be that serious. I mean, if he is a threat to national security, how could they possibly allow him to travel freely internationally if he so desires? Weird, to say the least.

Greg Olear's avatar

It may be that they know he won't go anywhere they can't get him. Even if we don't have an extradition treaty with a place, like the UAE or Venezuela or whatever, is that country really going to not give HIM to us if we demand it? But why risk it? House arrest, gag order. Silencing him is what is indicated.

Trump and the press.

" he thinks any news is a positive for him."

His ego will continue to engorge the moments.

Yesterday I again fell asleep in my reading chair.

I awakened screaming from a daymare.

Trump was convicted of ALL crimes.

He won the election.

He pardoned himself.

It did NOT go unnoticed that while Jack Teixeira, the Discord traitor guy who served up classified documents to his buddies to impress them, was charged with the same crimes of the Espionage Act that Trump is charged with, remains in jail and will most likely be there until he's in his sixties. Trump, on the other hand, is under no restrictions to his movements, speech, or his continued traitorous behavior toward the United States. But, please, let's hear some more whining from the Republican seditionists about how charging Trump with crimes is part of a two-tiered justice system. Trump should be living in the exact same conditions as Teixeira, with "three hots and a cot," and no way to communicate with the outside world except with his attorneys and anyone who wants to visit. It is OUTRAGEOUS that even after being charged with these crimes, he's still allowed to waddle free.

The indictments were great, and about time, but Trump's treatment like a head of state afterwards leaves NORMAL Americans to continue to distrust the justice system. We are either a nation of laws where alleged criminals are all treated the same, or we're not. So far, we are not.

First, I feel nauseous. Second, again, I hope Jack Smith sees your words. Third, thanks.

Trump moved me to write election postcards in '20 and '22. Being trained and experienced as a writer, editor, event producer, and graphic designer, I've "sort of" tried to contribute more than a few scribbled postcards and stamps. Other than a brief editing assignment, however, I hadn't found a way in -- until . . .

Recriving an email this week, asking for a volunteer graphic designer, I signed on.

The idea phase is the exciting part of design. Unless it's a big-budget, "glamorous," corporate deal with assistants to do the tedious tasks, most design projects definitely have their boring phases.

So, having done some fun sketching, I was sitting here staring at my half-finished Photoshop layout, twirling my hair, gazing out the window, playing with my phone...

...on which, I just read this new edition of your Substack.

I am now so furious that I'm gonna finish this damn web page layout if it kills me -- and anything else this Democrat vote-getting organization needs designed.

I guess you never know all the odds and ends that your writing inspires. I hope it inspires the Powers That Be to stop treating Traitor #1 like a f'n celebrity. FL just executed another killer. How many people has T1 murdered? I am SO furious...

I'm glad you're doing that and that this inspired it. We MUST vote. I think people understand that, but maybe they don't. The media is so awful. We are all furious, so furious it's paralyzing on some days...

So furious, I committed typo sins. (another reason why even an editor needs an editor.) Along with helping to encourage voting, my personal goal is not to click on any headline that contains "Trump." If I have extra time, I threaten to boycott advertisers who look "red." The efforts feel about the size of the proverbial pee hole in snowbank, but then I think of you, Jack Smith (I hope), and... another name'll come to me... Short on inspiration these days...

I have mixed emotions. Granted the drawings I saw of chump made him look better than he ever has. Even the newspeople commented about it. However, I would be happy never to see his “Dorian Gray revealed” visage again. Also if he were televised he would turn it into another reality show. Could anybody stop him.

I want to see him cower. When he appears on TV now, he is always, ALWAYS, the one calling the shots. Let him be in a place where he has no control and see how he does.

Very upset that Trump skated again without taking a mugshot, no bail set, passport not retrieved, and can still campaign! It isn’t fair that this schmuck who practically ruined our country, gets to walk around scot-free. Is Smith setting him up for something even bigger to charge him with other than sedition? Personally, I would like him to face a firing squad made up of all the women he raped. E Jean Carroll could lead the pack.
