Greg, “off the top of your head” was a pretty good list of Trump’s crimes that should have been gotchas. Thank you again. But now he has 100% of the Republicans in Congress voting to elect an election denier as speaker of the House . I am even more worried for our country than 2 days ago.

Thanks, Helen. It certainly is troubling. I prefer him to Jordan...at least, I think I do...it's like choosing between stubbing your toe or bruising your funny bone.

Greg - the difference is that Jim Jordan is an open-book buffoon while Johnson is a Christo-fascist of the first order.

Wow, you remembered as I did, each time thinking that surely this will taint his phony varnish. Swaddled in prosecutorial bubble wrap, ain’t no joke. But it’s a curse on us that it swaddles the worst this country has ever spawned.

Yeah. The bubble wrap is made of his MAGA base. Bannon is the shrink wrap that holds them close. The only thing that can come close to penetrating would be fire. I just hope the prosecutors aren’t too late in bringing it to the fights; ongoing and ahead.

Greg,

Many years ago, I began more or less collecting asshole Donald Trump biz puff stories in various NY business magazines and newspapers. When other real state developer friends talked him up in discussions about a newly publicized project, I knew where his money had really come from and how he always overpaid, stiffed subs, gullible attorneys, and suppliers. When I saw the first reality television show “Survivor” appear, I knew that the studios had found away to rid themselves of mega-movie stars and replace the expense television series with non-paid actor wannabes. I never predicted that Trump would become such a mega-jerk-off in the world of reality entertainment, but I should have seen it coming. It was predictable and he did and more than fifty percent of the American public believed and still believe the bullshit. He even ate the Republican political party completely. Everyone thinks they can control a guy like him, but thus far, they have not been able to do so yet. Now, we’ll see if Jack Smith, Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg, and Letitia Janes can roll up this dirt bag. Or will his pals in the SCOTUS and Congress save him?

First time I saw Trump was a 2-minute TV interview back in the 80's and my first impression was "what an asshole".

Then when his fake reality show appeared, I watched a few minutes of a couple of shows. Both times I remember thinking that the players must have thought that the TV exposure would be good for their careers. Both times I thought that I wouldn't last 5 minutes before telling this jackass to go fuck himself... It's crazy how many people fell for this shit.

The biggest irony in all of this is that the guy who made his TV career saying "You're fired" wouldn't actually say that to anyone IRL. He's such a coward.

If SCOTUS sets him free, democracy is over.

Trump learned early on that ethics, telling the truth, and playing by the rules is for suckers. He has always surrounded himself with people who are masters at exploiting every loophole everywhere to game the system. And he has also been blessed with an abundance of luck. Lucky for everyone else that his luck is now running out.

Well said, Rick. I think his old man's money bought him a lot of that luck. Literally, that time he rushed chips to the casino to cover DT's losses...

Greg there is a pattern to 45's outrageous behavior, it is done out in the open, in full view. Many voters believe that nothing is wrong, otherwise why would he be so open about things like meeting Russians in the Oval and handing them classified information. As he said, I could shoot...

As I talk to friends who do not give a damn for 45, the open crimes give them pause for thought, a very scary proposition as thinking folk will weigh the evidence, giving perpetrators the benefit of the doubt, doubt planted by committing crime in plain view.

When the "gotcha" is something those who follow 45 like the messiah already know about, not only do they ignore it, their adoration grows as the "woke" media reports on it. In their minds the reporting is part of the "witch hunt", the hoax. These sentiments are reinforced by the sycophants they elected. As the Republicans in the House openly endorse 45's treachery and Republicans in the Senate sit closed mouthed, the base only hardens in their support.

The big question. Are the attempts to "gotcha" 45 helping or hurting his reelection chances? Current polling suggest the former. Are enough "on the fence" voters drinking the kool-aid? Very, very scary times. It seems at the moment that if 45 somehow gets to be six feet under this country is crazy enough to put his ghost back in the Oval.

This is a good point. Brazen activity helps him. He can do the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct defense, or some variation of it: "You don't think I'd accuse my opponent of something I'm doing, do you?""

Put him in prison and his followers will leave. That's what LB has said for ages now, and she's right.

His assault on the Central Park 5, as a well known mobbed-up, concrete cartel, money laundering, career criminal was enough proof for me to know he was being federally protected. Why has always been the question! Excellent memory of the quivering orange jello mold of oleaginous sewage, Greg. Imagine if you will, what criminal activities we don’t have knowledge of...

"No evidence has surfaced showing that Donald Trump, or any of his employees involved in the... deal, actively participated in bribery, money laundering, or other illegal behavior."

I only took out "Baku" because this statement applies to almost anything Trump has done his whole life. His life of "illegal behavior" is out there for anyone willing to see it, and yet far too many still have their heads in the sand and/or up Trump's ass. I can only ASSUME we will recover from this at some point, and I REALLY hope I'm still alive to see it!

I can't count the number of times John Oliver dropped a huge banner behind saying, "WE GOT HIM!" accompanied by ballons and confetti cannons! It was a great bit, but yes, it always ended with, "Wait, I'm being told that actually, we DON'T have him." Someone is going to get him, one way or the other!

Good point. As Cheri says in the interview, the old guard GOP operatives went with him b/c that's where the money was, and they thought he'd lose. When he didn't, they thought they could control him. Nope.

Further proof that the over-educated, under-intelligent, otherwise-unemployables of The Mainstream Media are as much the enemy of America as any MAGAt. Their coverage of Biden proves they are still in the bag for the people who are going to be so happy sticking them in a FEMA camp after winning the next election that these scum will have facilitated.

Trump has been a hornswoggler and fizzwiggler his whole adult life without serious repercussion. It’s no wonder he has no fear of a criminal verdict comeuppance. Prosecutorial bubble-wrap indeed! In Jack Smith’s latest filing, the question placed before Judge Chutkan is: what other criminal defendant is allowed to go on intimidating witnesses (especially Mark Meadows) without being in the slammer pending trial? The answer so far, which changes the phrase “no one is above the law” to “no one is above the law except Donald John Trump.”

I used to think—back when, because I didn’t watch The Apprentice, I could go for months without hearing the name Donald Trump—that America is a nation of laws. That no one is above the law. That breaking the law carried consequences. Silly me!
