All of us who have friends who still weep decades later about the abject fear and loathing of being trapped in a locked space with a rapist. All of us who have suffered the emotional pain of learning that male classmate, new date, friend of friend, professor, teacher, Uncle, buddy, coach don't view friendship and mentorship quite the same way and will take advantage of a woman who is smaller, vulnerable, less powerful or who got to the party and over-indulged as teenagers will do.

It is so INCREDIBLY foul, so disgustingly criminal on all fronts that to think approximately half the American people support the party that backed this excrescence of a man and pushed him onto your Supreme Court is simply too distressing. Too appalling. Too frightening.
At the time I found him utterly repulsive and off-putting: there was nothing about him that said he would be a good upholder of the law - and me a foreigner from across the sea ..
