I remember watching an interview on MSNBC with the January 6th event planners hired to run the Ellipse rally. They were hired to run the rally -permit, seating, audio, etc. They were never informed of the march to the Capitol and were visibly livid for not being told. This all makes sense now. If the march had been permitted, then more Capitol police and DC police would have been required, which clearly the Jan 6th plotters didn’t want. There is much more that needs to be unearthed!

“Someone else, she insists, did the planning. “They’re not that bright.””

Also December 12, Tarrio gets special invite to White House. Oh, and don’t forget Roger f*cking Stone.

*Greg, if I may, what do you make of DOJ request for transcripts? Why now? Have they really been asleep at the wheel? Did they wait for J6 Committee to do their work for them? Or do you think the J6 docs supplement their already extensive investigation? I fear it’s the former.

My sense is that DOJ is rolling up from the bottom and the J6 Committee is rolling up from the top. It appears to be coordinated. The roll-up from the top is what grabs the public's attention. That's important.

Interesting how Roger Stone has been staying out of the spotlight. Hopefully he’s disintegrating from the lack of attention.

Thank you, Greg. And yes "this whole thing was planned out" ....

... but not from November. From the summer, when it was clear the race would be close.

You know that I believe this is all down to Putin and his stooge, #MangoWanker. Putin needed the USA out of NATO, or at least crippling NATO. So he needed Trump in power.

And meanwhile, Putin kills American children every day by funding the NRA...

Putin has been at war with America for years, and owns much of the GOP, see this handy money flow chart:

YES. Putin's insurrection and murders. Why invade with soldiers and tanks when you can just manipulate with black mail, money and propaganda?

Great piece, per usual. Inside the Beltway and in editorial boardrooms there is way too much complacency

Greg thanks for another great column.

The next 18 months will define US history of the continuing Civil War. There may not be a US Attorney General prosecuting January 6th.

Thus the Grasshopper dies in the Nuclear Winter.

Bachom: “This is the thing people are missing,” Bachom tells me. “The Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers are the army. They’re the militia. They didn’t come up with this scheme. They came up with maybe the organizing of the troops…but they were following orders.” Someone else, she insists, did the planning. “They’re not that bright.”

I keep hoping that as the layers of this rotten onion are removed, one by one, that the "someone else" or SEVERAL "someone else" persons will be the thing that ultimately blows the roof off, as Raskin promised. It's becoming pretty clear from the testimony thus far who the ultimate "Commander in Chief" of this "army" was and is. But as a general, he's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier either. There have to be others involved in the planning besides Eastman.

The latest tactic, and we should all be aware of it as we move around online, is for Trump's still deluded supporters to pooh-pooh the J6 Hearings because they're more worried about "gas prices, inflation, and rising crime -- not this charade of an investigation that is politically one-sided and all a Democrat Witch-Hunt, and anyone who thinks differently has terminal TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome)." Leaving out the fact that no, they probably CAN'T think about more than one thing at a time, unlike Salem, THIS witch-hunt is actually finding witches!

On the first day of the J6 Hearings, I was excited to see that it seemed as though there would be no "political correctness" employed when it came to talking about Trump and his BIG role in the attempted coup. They threw him under the bus over and over and over, and the subsequent hearings have proven what they said the first day as to what was to come, as true and constant. Trump was and IS a traitor to this country, his former office, and the American people. He SHOULD be hanged, but of course, we don't do that anymore, and that's a pity. His punishment MUST be enough that others with aspirations such as his (looking at YOU, DeSantis!) are so cowed by the conviction that they won't even WANT the job. It also has to be such a punishment so that not even Trump can somehow spin it into a win for himself. The rest of his life should be a constant misery for his decision to GRIFT the Office of President of the United States. Looking forward to the podcast!

Another excellent piece. I look forward to when the January 6 Committee and the judges examining the Proud Boys discover Sandi’s evidence. Hot stuff. 🏆🏆🥰

Without the J6 Committee, we would be so completely screwed as a nation.

So many people, inside and outside the federal government, followed Grump's lead. It’s no surprise he had close ties with Fox, white supremacy groups, militias, and Republicans everywhere. Secretaries of state and election officials. Ginni Thomas. Business dirt bags that will go unnamed, you know them. The “pillars” of white society were swept up in the intoxicating rush to establish a permanent white social order. It was a mad rush at the end especially, because after four years of leadership which was favorable to white male hetero Christian dominated society, the Jurassic relics didn’t want to see it return to an Obama / Biden leadership. They didn’t give a shit about fairness in the 2000 election either. The Neanderthals keep finding a way to establish influence, like on the Supreme Court and in the Oval Office, without a majority.

January 6 did us a huge favor, a gigantic favor: no doubt remains that these cretins will do anything and everything, lie cheat and steal, to keep their lousy white + male supremacy society intact. It’s not happening in secret anymore. All of it is right out there in the open, nakedly and transparently visible. Every regressive state law and gerrymandering effort makes it to the headlines now. The January 6 Committee is the final nail in the coffin of that obsolete social order.

I'm back to say you and Sandi make for compelling audio, Greg. Just wanted to express my gratitude for your contribution to democracy by writing these blogs and hosting these podcasts. And to chime in to Sandi's angst at seeing her Capitol under siege:

My time at the Capitol (early seventies) was covering committee and subcommittee hearings for the House and Senate as a court stenographer. My agency provided the daily transcripts of those hearings.

I'll never forget the feeling of seeing the Capitol come into view as my cabdriver made his way toward the building. It literally took my breath away. Every. Single. Time.

Not proud, not keepers, but brown shirts:

"Hitler formed the SA in Munich in 1921, drawing membership from violent anti-leftist and anti-democratic former soldiers (including the Freikorps) in order to lend muscle to the young Nazi Party, using them like a private army to intimidate opponents. According to the Nuremberg Military Tribunal, the SA was ‘a group composed in large part of ruffians and bullies’."
