Thank you, Greg. There is no question that America is at war RIGHT NOW.

The obscene GOP, the obscene Putin-Trump, the Transnational Organised Crime oligarchs which includes Murdoch and many of the super-rich corporate owners, etc. are desperate to break America and install an inept dictator.

NO ONE HATES DEMOCRACY LIKE THE RICH.

Like industries under Mussolini and Hitler, they figure to make lots more money if that pesky democracy is crushed.

Thanks, William. We've been at war for, what, seven years now? You'd think more people would catch on.

Netanyahu, Biden, Zelenskyy, and the helpless people in Gaza come out losers of life and position. The only one to achieve huge gain is Putin!!

Right, except that Bibi gained in position, though. He's now, apparently, there for the duration of the war -- a terrible, terrible mistake.

That last line is chilling. Putin has a long-standing tradition of murdering journalists on his birthday.

Yeah, it's kind of his kink.

Speaking of, one of the terrible tabloid rags reported that Putin had a heart attack while in flagrante delicto with a zaftig Only Fans model. It's just crazy enough to be true...except that I think his predilections run younger.

The web of international intrigues is constantly thickened through the use of digital misinformation and actions funded by malicious actors. I don’t think there is any doubt that Putin is doing all he can to undermine support for Ukraine. Using the Middle East as a foil for that war gives him a lot of power to affect the US support—and divide our country further! Where he lacks actual power he uses every opportunity to manipulate—and he has proven to be quite able in that regard.

What to do about "Americans" who are aiding and abetting this Putrid Chaos agent ? Rand Paul is particularly despicable. Every 5-1/2 years he transforms into an angel and actually does a few things that might help ordinary Americans - right before he's up for election. Short-sightedness is such an easy way to open oneself up to manipulation. And yes, I agree, all roads lead to the Putrid One.

I was watching MSNBC this morning and Steve Kornacki was showing a map of the counties that Gov. Beshear won last night in Kentucky. There is a cluster of counties in Southeastern Kentucky that had been firmly red but turned blue for Gov. Beshear. Do you remember the Aluminum Factory that was supposed to be built in that same area back in 2017-ish with $15 million taxpayer dollars? Oleg Deripaska had his hand in that one. It was never built and Gov. Beshear was able to get the $15 million back for the taxpayers. By the way, SO HAPPY with the elections yesterday!

Greg, what were those GOP traitors doing in Moscow on 7-4? I suspected they went over to solicit funding in their Red States “zones of opportunity” as the relocated agencies would be transferred out of DC area, one each to a red state.

Those who control the information, control the world. We're getting our asses kicked.

Normally, the Five Eyes and our CIA a key players, but right now they're really not making the grade and obviously are playing from behind.

So, what was in those boxes of documents Trump kept hidden in Mar-a-Lago? How much did that cripple CIA operations? (Someone got an inside line?) This is not a rhetorical question. DOJ SP Jack Smith's statement that he knows what documents Trump kept and why he kept them implies there is a serious and perhaps deadly reason behind the heist.

The only good thing right now is that the opposition is thoroughly showing their colors and who they really support.

And, last, due to comprehensive ownership of major media by the GOP, the need for (some) social media and smaller means to be disbursing information is increasing; we can all be publishers and help in expanding this effort via, strangely enough, the ancient Chinese perception (via I Ching) called 'The Preponderance of the Small.'

Expand full comment

The problem with social media is that we have billions of publishers distributing disinformation. Maybe more people should consult the I Ching before they publish.

Expand full comment

LOL. I wasn't advocating that, but you are correct about the sheer mass of those distributing disinfo right now. And that means we should cherish those like Greg who write with such clarity and actually wade into the questions of the day and see them for what they are...and can convey it. Right now is a major psyop by the forces of darkness. But we are light the light; you can't hold us, we slip right through ever crack and crevice...you can never hold us long.

I actually have a very old copy of the I Ching when it was first published in the US via Yale (Wilhelm/Baynes translation.) It was given to me by a wandering Jew who called himself the Emperor of the Universe. I found him to be quite sane and capable; he was wandering across the US with just a nickel in his pocket. He spent about two weeks at our house in the country...he was a most interesting person.

The poetry of the hexagrams and citations are simple, beautiful works themselves that reveal the power within the basic images. This was one word written at the back in ink: propitiousness. I usually take the whole of it as a gestalt, sometimes of my world, sometimes of the world in general. As a Book of Changes, I take it to find where in the state of change things stand in my world as a general matter of perspective. And I almost never use it as an oracle.

What I don't understand is, assuming Trump DID steal documents of great and specific importance and deliver them to malign actors -- say, for hypothetical example, a document explaining how best to break through the Gaza barrier into Israel -- why are the big guns so quiet? I never understood why Obama, for example, who knows all about Flynn, hasn't been more forthcoming. It's all strange to me, this quaint adherence to quixotic rules as the house is burning down.

Expand full comment

When I come across things like that, I assume there is so much intertwined that to start to unravel it would be more disastrous than letting the the bad guys show the world who they really are. Flynn is never going to stop because he is mentally ill. He's convinced that he's fighting the good fight. His day will come... It's very important at this time for people to figure out for themselves who has the best interests for an equal society. As we see more disinformation take root, people have are given the opportunity to use their intuition to parse out what is truth. I believe that is the lesson of our current time. It may seem like a small thing but it is what will give us the world were we can all thrive.

Expand full comment

I think there is some truth in what Gail is saying...it is intertwined at multiple levels. I have no idea why Flynn is still operational, except he and his group are revealing their whole operation and its pattern in depth.

People are quiet because they are either scared or there is a lot on the line at the moment...and in politics, roles (who speaks) are important. I do presume any pertinent information or insight Obama has is transmitted to Biden, et. al.

I think the statement was made to scare certain people...chances are we're talking treason here, and right now the heat is on. Do you think Russia will treat Trump well? I think Epstein had a better chance...and really, he had none.

I am properly chastened by this essay, and now realize that I too, intelligent as I like to think of myself to be, was taken in by Hamas propaganda. HAMAS PROPAGANDA!! WTF? I have been leaping into the breach of conversations about this war without the true information I needed to do so. Deep down, I may have realized that when I almost stopped talking about it at all online. The only problem with that being that I was avoiding discussions because they were usually with MAGAts who also have a twisted view of this war, its causes, and most importantly, its effects. I hate being so wrong, but I am always glad to be educated.

OF COURSE! When Nancy Pelosi said, "all roads lead to Putin," she was, as usual, absolutely correct. She was only speaking to Trump at the time, but we all know now that whatever Trump thinks, his Borg-like followers and minions think too. And Trump and Co. do love them a dictator like Putin, who seems to get ALL the "prizes," without seemingly, much effort. I guess you can do anything when you're a dictator over a democracy -- things to keep in mind. In an honest MAGA world, Putin would have been elected Speaker of the House, in absentia. Still waiting to hear that Russian State TV is playing "Swan Lake."

I think a remix of "Swan Lake," with 808 drums and rapping, is in order, and soon.

The propaganda is strong and it takes advantage of our basic human decency and empathy -- like in Silence of the Lambs when the serial killer kidnaps his victim by pretending to be infirm and asking for her help. I can't claim to be immune to it, not at all. And until Bibi steps down, the propaganda will be effective, because the optics from Gaza are so awful and undeniable, and so easy to weaponize.

This week's podcast helped me a lot with this...I'm excited to share it on Friday.

It's so interesting you brought up "Silence of the Lambs". I tell my daughters that it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Not because of the subject matter, of course, but the storyline and the actors are so excellent. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins - the BEST. I just watched it the other day - until Clarice enters the serial killer's house at the end - I can't see that again.

I have taken to clumsily calling him Bibi Trumpanyahu because yeah, he needs to go, and take the propaganda with him. I'm not sure where the label, "human shields" came from, whether our side or theirs (I think I heard Biden first use it), but it is a talking point that has worn out its welcome because WE GET IT!

"Silence of the Lambs" always reminds me of the many misdirections in its story, from the Ted Bundy-like "man with a broken arm," to even the last bits of the film where they're at the wrong house, but we're led to believe they're not. It worked for the movie, and it works now, obviously. It also reminds me to go back to GREAT films and stop trying to find anything in some of the current crap being released; I was pretty excited about the new Pet Sematary movie, until I saw it. Ugh! The streaming release of "Oppenheimer" continues....

Today's version of the Axis of Evil, 45, Putin and Netanyahu. The common threads, self preservation and revenge. Trump and Netanyahu desperately are trying to escape legal jeopardy, not an issue for Vlad as he has completely emasculated Russia's legal system, a goal of the other two. Of course Putin's legal jeopardy could be for war crimes but I suspect his out will be death from some unknown illness currently afflicting him.

What separates 45 and Bibi from Vlad is that they currently reside in a Democracy, as fragile as it may be. Their common bond, sycophants supporting them, in 45's case Maggot nation and a big segment of the Republican Party headed now by Michael Johnson. Bibi's pact is with, among others the devil, Religious Zionists headed by Bezalel Smotrich. One big difference between 45 and Bibi, the latter governs and has in place conspiracy operatives while 45 is out of office but manipulating conspiracy supporters.

The big question, will the Axis succeed in bringing down Biden? Can it be possible that one man stands between freedom and anarchy? Feels that way! Joe is doing his best to manage disasters on multiple fronts. If he had staunch support from his own party, something Dems historically have been unable to do I might believe he has a chance. However as media fixates on meaningless polls, 45's rants and Joe's age, ignoring his record of achievement they are aiding and abetting the Axis. Media's biggest crime, disheartening those of us who should know better, possibly causing abject despair and giving up, not voting when it counts.

My point, the battle of good versus evil appears to be a losing one. Forget about Ukraine at our peril. Allow Isreal unencumbered trampling of Gaza to continue at our peril. I fully support their need to exterminate Hamas but much prefer the Munich approach, a long term hunt for evildoers, eradicating them one by one rather than having a way too big collateral damage number.

A year to decision day 2024. The decision to be made, will good triumph over evil?

Funny you bring up "Munich." That would be way, way more effective. Perhaps if someone other than Bibi was in charge, that's what we'd see. Hard to know.

I think the Dems ARE in support of Biden. This is as united as I've seen us. And last night made clear that our positions are vastly more popular.

I think that it may be the goal of the many foreign autocracies including: Russia, N Korea, China, Iran pushing Hamas to attack Israel,

First: Autocratic group draws America into a war, possibly a WW; with help of classified documents and policy plans that Trump stole from the WH and disseminated to various foreign leaders that helped him win in 2016

Second: with Republican support and co-operation, by stalling their job of vetting appointees for military and other leadership positions, then stalling again in the vote antics for speaker in the house, these delays in funding government or support for Ukraine and Israel may force Biden to split any money’s he had for Ukraine to help Israel.

Third: Republicans alone may not do these stalling acts on their own initiative- I believe that Trump is directing their activities, contrary to what many think that Trump is exhibiting dementia/senility, I don’t trust him that it isn’t a ruse on his part, because Trump is still giving orders to his faithful Maghats in congress

Finally: if Putin had his way, USA would stop supporting Ukraine altogether, allowing him to swoop in, claim Ukraine and continue his annexation of all former USSR countries and pushing European borders...no matter how he gets there he is determined...

Too many folks still believe it’s politics as usual, only more so, or they aren’t following news at all, bc they don’t understand and/or they don’t care. When most of the popular stations are carrying Trump/Republican message, media is making out like bandits keeping TFG in the news. Media is also outright lying about some things, it can’t be helped, unfortunately. The solution is multi-pronged, via social media; a well respected and/or former head of DOJ or FBI, to tell US the facts and keep repeating it everywhere. Then, we must insist they televise USA v Trump, either one, or both of Jack Smith’s cases.

Like the case of USA v Nixon, after seeing it play out every day, most came to believe his perfidy, and became the biggest supporters of Nixon’s impeachment and subsequent resignation. Too bad Ford pardoned Nixon, it gave Republicans carte blanche to behave unlawfully, and get away with it..Reagan Bush Sr both systematically dismantled the middle class by signing the NAFTA in 1988. This was the beginning or what we see now..Trump woke these Maghats up out of their angry stupor- these are the ones who suffered most under NAFTA, unable to fight back, Trump gave them leave to do so.

We’ll Greg. I hope this comment isn’t too,too long. The world is suffering from wars. The global conflicts of the twentieth century did not teach us, humankind, the futility of killing opponents to solve problems. Too many good people die, and the damage to good-life infrastructure is intolerable. Weapons are getting more destructive.

There is so much to lose when bombs start flying. I weep for those in harm's way.

Yet I am an optimist. I believe that innovation will solve the problems of water and food scarcity, lack of educational opportunity, disease, bad government, poverty, and perhaps, one fine day, even war. There are over a billion fewer people enduring in poverty today than there were 30 years ago according to the World Bank. Cell phones, GPS systems, artificial intelligence and the removal of language barriers are just beginning to put their shoulders to the wheel of human progress. Abundant clean and renewable energy, massive desalinization of seawater, and effective efforts to regulate climate change, are on the near horizon.

How can we know these things? Easy peasy. Keep up with the news Dude. Read. *

In my lifetime, intercontinental, almost free, communications via cell phone have been achieved. Transportation across oceans and continents has become common. We measure these journeys in hours and not weeks. Moving pictures inside the home on big screens, big flat screens, has become the norm in the United States and all other developed and developing countries.

I personally feel totally in control of my banking, investments, bill paying, transferring of funds, and communications, in ways that were just not possible 25 years ago. I don’t endorse checks ‘for deposit only’ and get them to my bank. I never even go to the bank. I’ve never even seen the bank where we keep our savings account – don’t even know what city or state it’s in.

We no longer need to write checks, address envelopes, buy and lick postage stamps, and travel to a post office or drop-box to pay a bill. Giving a grandchild or a friend $25, or even $2,500. is done with a couple of keystrokes on a phone. Instantly – account to account. I carry my phone everywhere.

We no longer need pockets full of cash to navigate around town or even across the country. Virtually all my needs can be satisfied without the use of cash or even checks.

Nowadays we seldom see cars broken down by the side of the road. Tires last 75,000 miles and not 7,500. Our cars with 100,000 or even 200,000 miles on them still work like new when properly maintained. Death and injury in traffic accidents has been reduced with the use of seatbelts and airbags and accidents are becoming rarer with improvements in automobile safety.

Looking back a little further, in this and many other countries, we have freed 50% of our population. I'm talking about women, now free to use their brains legally. They now vote, are heads of state, lead fortune 500 companies, participate in the military and even, in that most rare of human activity, become astronauts. One day this will be true in every country. I'm thinking Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and other benighted countries.

When I was a child, I hated Germans and Japs. They were the enemy. Cruel and vicious people. Now I believe that citizens of those two countries are our best friends in the world. How did this happen? Good thinking and good actions on the part of victorious nations. Forgiveness and understanding. What a turnaround!

How the world has improved. Two exclamation points. That's my testimony. What's yours?
