That's a lot of names you pulled out of the trashcan.

Great summary on all of these candidates. A nauseating lineup. The time is now to be vigilant. Message received.

Stephen King, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and Mary Shelley; all authors whose work I have deftly avoided.

The Exorcist, The Shining, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream, Pet Sematary; from zombies to vampires to werewolves to demons and psychopaths - particularly psychopaths - I shun them all.

But these deplorables are beyond the pale. Oh, the horror of it all!

King's "Stand By Me" stands out (sorry) in King's landscape of horror as an outstanding book ; the movie was good too. For some reason I read "Christine," about a deadly 1968 car run amok. It was fun. The rest (more than 70 books) I've avoided. We have enough zombies and demons in real life to deal with.

I owned a tiny bookstore in the 90’s that specialized in children’s books although morphed into a slightly general, and I refused to carry Stephen King’s books after seeing the Shining and Misery movies, thinking that I didn’t want a 5th or 6th grader picking up one and be freaked out for life!

However I did read 11/22/63 and Under the Dome and liked them both very much.

Kristi Noem!! I DID forget about her, which is easy to do. Before you mentioned her, I would have put money on Kari Lake being Trump's running mate, but now, I don't know... Whomever the nominee is, if HE'S smart, his running mate will be a woman. Now that Biden has successfully broken that barrier, Republicans, who haven't had an original idea since the Civil War, will want to jump on that bandwagon. But you can be sure that the nominee will be a man. No matter how they feel about women, they "KNOW" that they can't have "some woman" be their nominee. That's off the table.

I have to look at our side too. Kamala Harris is not a shoo-in nominee for 2028, even though I'd REALLY like her to be. The misinformative, racist, misogynistic campaign against her has to be fought, starting NOW. And after Joe, we need to start skewing younger. The last time the "torch was passed to a new generation" was Obama, and that came with its own issues, and people weren't paying attention enough to get behind the president when he needed it most. I've heard people say that some candidates only care about the voters once every four years, and that may be true, but we as citizens, I believe, have to also continue to kindle support even when our candidate wins. Even fucking Trump had that, and still does in a lot of ways, even though his supporters are mindless zombies. Ahh! Trump is the zombie apocalypse! I knew it!

Kari would sure love to be on that ticket. Trump might be ridiculous enough to ask. Nothing is off the table at this point.

They are zombies. I used to roll my eyes at the zombie books, but now I see that they were on to something...

A few years ago, I did read Max Brooks' zombie book, but other than that, I've no use for them. Good read, as I recall, but the idea that I've seen some people seem to actually believe; that we COULD have a zombie apocalypse, is so ridiculous to me, I can't take any of it seriously. Too much gore too. Yuck!

That fly that landed on Pencey's head is owed all the gratitude in the world - a TRUE Patriot! Nikki Haley is the fakest piece-of-you-know-what with the fakest "sincere" look on her face. Every time I see her I think, "How dare she?" - it doesn't seem to matter what she is doing, I just think, "How dare she?" Kristi Noem is an absolute nut-job - Michele Bachman with a better plastic surgeon. Tim Scott? Please.

Trump could run from prison, like Eugene Debs did 100 years ago. Many members of his cult are convinced that he is the new Messiah and that he could miraculously emerge victorious against Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Fulton County, Georgia DA Fani Willis, and DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith. Many of them won't vote if the Republicans nominate someone else.

Right now, opportunist Republicans smell blood in the water and want to get in on the action. Even those that have no chance in hell, like Vivek Ramaswamy, know that being a Presidential candidate can get them interviews on cable news, book deals, podcast subscriptions, and name recognition.

The real danger is that the nominee will be someone most people have never heard of and will sound normal and reasonable to people who don't pay attention to politics until a couple months before the election, like NH Governor Chris Sununu.

After DNC stole the primary from Sanders, ya know where they create this game where a candidate had to have so many points to move up the ladder to the next challenge, then allowed Bloomberg to waltz in and run without meeting any of those requirements, DNC won their legal case stating they can choose who ever the hell they want, democracy be damned. So as a consolation prize, Biden used Sanders economic plan and waalaa, he is now on to his 2nd term. Oh what a tangled weave they’ve woven. After his first two years decided to revert back to the neoliberal agenda to help GOP survive incompetent assholes. Bargaining with devils...wtf could possibly go wrong.

I agree with the morning line but I also think Trump is a false favorite who is carrying much higher weight than the other contenders. What makes him most vulnerable is he won't be able to run away from his disastrous four-years in office. Also, his running style of perpetual lying and personal insults is well known and will be much less effective.

The question remains if anyone will actually challenge him? The most knowledgeable and courageous candidate is Liz Cheney. She may not win the nomination but she is capable of softening Trump up to a point where another contender could win. Trump will also be running away from jail. As more indictments and possible convictions pile up, many R voters will be scratching their heads. Even R voters don't want someone who is a tax cheat, a grifter, a sexual abuser, a pathological liar, a Russian appeaser, an incompetent leader, and a likely felon. Trump never said the word democracy and treated the Constitution like it was toilet paper. He led the 1/6/21 Insurrection and the conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election! Liz Cheney can best remind R voters about this un-American, criminal distinction. He's also not smart, but he could support his claim by disclosing his grade school, high school, and college records which remain under legal lock and key.
