Happy 50th Birthday to you! And I wish you many more to come. I enjoyed this essay, and on January 1st I will turn 78, so I am lucky (& happy) to have made it this far; as you noted, not everyone does. Keep up the good work!

A lot that you write I find causes a smile or a nod and to paraphrase Salinger what knocks me out when I find a new writer who makes me want to call them on the telephone and bullshit and tell them how long much their recent piece made me happy. Happy Birthday, Greg, and keep facing that blank page as often as you can manage to muster the strength it requires.
